Peaches and Cream
Kira Yamato was his long time best friend. Now settled with the beautiful Lacus Clyne, as bad at it sounded. He was envious.
What was more insulting is that he never exerted any effort into meeting the love of his life. All he did was sat on the park, waiting for some god-forsaken pity.
When the rich Fllay Allster broke up with the Cinderella man, that was when things started to change for Kira, he met Lacus. They ended happily ever after.
Happy endings only exists on fairytales, for a mere man like him, Love is scarce.
He smiled faintly at his misery.
They were in a bakeshop, Athrun spilling his misery to him.
“I don’t know Kira it’s as if, every woman I know is taken!” he slumped on the table, despair eating him alive.
Kira sighed in amusement. “For the nth time Athrun Don’t go lo-“
“Ya, Ya I know!” in the best mimicking tone he continued. “Don’t go looking for love, Let love find it’s ass to you.” He slumped more, groaning some incoherent words.
Kira just smiled. It was, rather, entertaining to watch his friend like this.
Their usual waitress came to the table. “So what will the two of you having?” she asked, tapping the tip of the pen, on the bonded paper in her hand.
“The usual” he said.
“DEh-sual” Athrun said his face still down on the table, pounding on it.
Kira pointed his hand upward, “I think he meant the usual” Kira laughed nervously, the waitress stared at them weirdly.
“Alrighty then!” she said in her usual enthusiastic manner.
“Thank you, Cagalli.” Kira smiled.
After a few seconds, he breathed some air of relief. The blonde girl always made him tense.
“So Athrun, how about that Lunamaria I introduced to you?” Kira asked, desperate for some hope.
Athrun haggard face rose from the table. “She’s cheating with Rey.”
“Meyrin?” he asked some more.
“Too childish…”
Kira frowned. “You’re too picky. You’re not gonna end up with someone, if you keep doing that.” he pointed out.
Athrun started his defense. “I just want the best Kira, the sweetest among the bunch! Can’t you understand that!”
Kira shook his head in frustration. He was near giving up. “Athrun, I really can’t understand you.” He said in defeat.
Kira sighed once more. “I know this sounds cheesy and all but you’ll never know that the person you passed by the street, could be the love of your life. Or it could be someone here? Who knows? Let fate take you.”
Athrun looked at his buddy in amazement. “You always say the right words. No wonder why Lacus married you, you’re such a kiss up!”
The waitress came with a tray of food in hand. “Here’s your strawberry cheesecake, Mr. Yamato and Peaches and Cream for him.”
Cagalli smiled briefly to the two of them before heading back.
Oblivious to the three of them, a lone comet passed, waiting to unleash its magic, thrills, and frills, in the game of love.
A single day, a destined fate, it was the beginning.
