Summary: JainaZekk, a day or so after Crisis on Crystal Reef, and their thoughts on the past few years. One-shot, really short. I strongly dislike half of the extended universe and I'm probably never going to read NJO so this is how I think things should end up. First fic ever, please r&r!

Rating: K+

Category: Angst/Romance

Disclaimer: I don't own anything Star Wars. That's George Lucas and Lucasfilm and whatnot. Also Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta wrote YJK, so I don't own that either. This is just my own imagination spring-boarding off of their characters.

Reviews: sure, especially if it's helpful tips and stuff. It's my first fanfic, so if you've got something bad to say do me a favor and find something nice, too. Thanks.

Thanks to my little sis, Samantha Marie, for beta-ing

Thoughts

She sat staring out at the river, watching it flow by. It moved along slowly, but the undercurrent could pull you along when you were actually in it. Two years seemed like such a long time, but in that time she had been captured by the Shadow Academy and escaped, seen her closest friend be captured and seduced by the dark side, defeated the Second Imperium for the last time, been captured by the Diversity Alliance, defeated them, and defeated Czethros and Black Sun. Now she was a full-blown Jedi Knight. In a few days she'd be getting her assignment and go off on her first mission. She couldn't believe the time had passed by so fast. She and her friends would be split up, and whether they'd see each other again she didn't know. She would miss them all, but he was the one she most regretted having to leave behind.

He wandered through the forest, decided that the river would be a good place to go. He still felt out of place at the Jedi academy, around the students he'd attacked barely a year ago. It felt better to be out here. Out here he could think. He'd done a lot of stuff he regretted, including nearly cutting off her head, but Master Skywalker still seemed to trust him enough to say he'd be assigned a mission in a few days. He didn't mind that much, being out fighting. He didn't really have too many people to leave behind. She was really the only one he cared about anymore.
She sighed and got up. Something had shifted in the Force surrounding her and she didn't feel like sitting there anymore. As she turned away from the water, she saw what had caused her unsettlement. He stood about twenty feet from her, leaning easily on a tree. Apparently he'd been watching her for a while. She opened her mouth to greet him, but nothing came out, so she closed it again as he pushed himself off the tree and came over to her. He didn't even try to say anything, just wrapped his arms around her and kissed her. After a couple seconds of utter shock, she slipped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. He pulled back after a few moments, and she met his gaze with a question which he obviously understood.

"Just in case I don't see you again for a while," he whispered. She nodded, tears threatening in her eyes, and leaned up to kiss him again.

Review please (even if you have something bad to say, please find something nice too! it's my first fic! Please no flames on the pairing or either character, remember I haven't read NJO)
