I couldn't resist an Angsty Aya centric one shot. I was listening to Vermillion pt 2 And it just kicked me in the face as an Angsty Aya flick song. Meh. And yes I know it's probably so very wrong to have an AyaRenkae hint in this but that pairing just hasn't left me alone since it smacked me in the face a few hours ago. Sorry Rayne.

The rain lashed her face hard as she stared up into the cloud line of Bakuten, there was no thunder, no lightning, just rain. Heavy, heavy rain. She closed her eyes, tired of looking at that broken city. So many believed that Bakuten was a utopia for BeyBladers, the perfect city, why? All because some prissy Mainframers were formed at a tournament 5 years ago, a mainframe team that later took the world tournament by storm and still retains their World Champion titles today.

The raven haired girl snorted shifting her weight and pushing soaking bangs from her eyes; green and red orbs flicked open and once again surveyed the city below. So dark. So empty. So broken. And yet no one saw the cracks along the edges but her. Buildings stretched out across her eyesight, carpeting the earth as far as the eye could see; stood upon the highest building in Bakuten she stared out across the houses offices and attractions of the city.

And cared nothing for any of it.

Dressed in her grey corset, black skirt and ankle length jacket, waist length raven black hair billowing out with the wind she looked like some demonic or vampiric over-seerer of the city. Which, in a way, now that she thought about it, she was.

She took a deep breath, the night air soaked through thickly with moisture and the promise of a storm that would last the whole night. She said nothing as she felt someone move beside her, "What are you doing out in the rain?" the raven haired girl asked without breaking her vigil over the silent water logged city.

"Meh, I could ask you the same question." The teen beside her stated flippantly. Renkae turned to stare out at the city, her dark russet eyes tracing the horizon, picking out the slight pinking of the sky, dawn would break soon and the storm would pass. "You can never close the door. Can you?" She asked quietly and poignantly as she felt something dark and unfathomable brush over her friend, barely tracing the edges of her own arms.

Aya noted the pinking of the horizon and noted the rain easing off. "no. The door can never be closed once its been opened." She replied quietly, green red eyes closing as the darkness wrapped around her, the hairs across her body standing straight as pins and needles raced across her skin.

"It can never be closed." The raven haired girl repeated her voice emotionless as always.

Renkae looked to her friend from under rain soaked bangs, russet eyes sad and concerned. Then, as if coming to a decision she smacked her fist into the palm of her hand. "I'll close it!" She exclaimed determinedly, Aya blinked surprise flashing across her face as she turned to her friend, the darkness floundering and slipping as she did so. "I'll close the door." She repeated turning to her friend and grinning at her.

"I'll keep you here. I'll protect you." Aya blinked at her friend unsure of what to say or do. Renkae smirked when Aya simply hmphed and faced away to the suddenly light horizon, an odd expression on her face.

"Baka." She grunted without any real heat.

Renkae laughed as the rain lightened and finally stopped, Aya couldn't help the small smile that curled on her lips as she heard the girl's laughter, the sunlight washing over them as they stood watch, over this broken city.

Yeah. Review me please, I'd like to hear your opinions on this. (grin) And again, sorry Rayne.
