A Dream Come True…..NOT!
AN: This is my very first Bonkers fanfic. I loved Bonkers while it was on and I love to write so I thought I'd write down this idea that I've had in my head a while. I know where I want this fanfic to go its just getting to that point without confusing all the readers that's got me concerned, OH well if I need to backtrack for anyone just tell me and I'll try to make things clearer. Now on with the fanfic.
Chapter 1
Make a Wish, Bonkers
Bonkers D. Bobcat woke up bright and early on the 1st of May. This was going to be a normal day today the least. Well as normal as it can be when one is a cop. Bonkers eat his breakfast, got dressed and sat outside his door waiting on his partner Miranda Wright to come bye and pick him up.
He felt bad for her because he knew it was out of her way but after smashing about twelve cop cars the bureau revoked his license. It wasn't his fault that he was so short. He couldn't help it, and being the only toon cop on the force didn't help matters much either. He was short, orange and very clumsy. He was laughed at everyday and while most toons enjoy being laughed at, it bothered Bonkers because now he was a cop.
He put his thoughts aside when he saw Miranda turning the corner to his street. "Oh well, maybe today will be different." Bonkers thought to himself and sighed.
"Hey Partner!" Miranda smiled as he climbed inside.
Putting on his happy-go lucky toon smile Bonkers answered her with a bright and cheerful, "Howdy Miranda! How was your night?"
"Okay I suppose. There could be more hours in the night or Sarge could give us more days off." Miranda smirked.
"Yeah I hear that."
They drove off to the precinct and spent the rest of the day doing meaningless paper work that Grading kept them busy with. Towards the end of the day, some of the other male officers were talking and laughing in the locker room. Bonkers walked up to Roberts,
"What's going on guys?"
Roberts turned and looked down at Bonkers, still laughing he said,
"Oh, it's nothing Bonkers. Nothing you would be interested in anyway."
Indignant Bonkers started over towards Johnson, but before he could say anything Johnson pushed him away.
"Stay out of my way toon boy. This doesn't concern you."
Finally Riggs who was sort of a nice enough fellow pulled Bonkers aside while the other guys were still joking.
"If you must know Bonkers, the guys are just having some laughs about Miranda, and some of the other female officers."
Bonkers looked shocked and angry,
"But why would they do that? It's not very nice."
Riggs shook his head,
"You're a toon, of course you don't understand. Most of the guys on the force would love to be in your position, only they would also be, umm how do I put this? They want to be in a 'horizontal position' with your partner. You don't know how lucky you are."
Bonkers become angry at this and stormed over to the group of guys,
"Now listen here you guys, Miranda is a great cop and so are the other women on the force. You can't treat them like pieces of meat, or some sort game pieces waiting to be scored. They have feelings, and you should stop this type of talking right now!" Bonkers preached.
Roberts stood up and loomed over the 3'6" toon,
"Really and what you gonna do about it if we don't?"
Suddenly the color in Bonkers face paled. He knew what was coming next. Johnson blindsided him and two others picked him up. He struggled but his small frame was no match for 3 adult men, plus the taunts of the other officers distracted his thinking. He tried to fight them but they took him and locked him in one of the storage closets.
This wasn't the first time they had done this and it probably wouldn't be the last. He sat in silence until they all had left. Finally, when he figured they would all be gone, he turned on the light to look around. He could always find something to pry open the door. He took the door off the hinges from the inside by popping the bolts out with a screwdriver. After he was out of the closet he finished getting dressed. Looking at his watch he knew Miranda would have left thinking he had decided to walk home again.
They did this so often to him that he had told Miranda one time that he might walk home every once in a while and for her not to wait on him. So may be once or twice a week he would get lock in the closet or some place and would walk home alone. This particular day, for whatever reason had decided to rain. Not just sprinkling either, it was pouring down rain. Sighing to himself as he stepped outside, he pulled his hat down over his eyes and began a brisk, and uncomfortable walk home.
Upon arriving to his trailer, the weather all of the sudden shifted. It went from dark and story to clear and starry. Bonkers shook his head in disbelief as he walked through the front door. Even though he was starving he was more over exhausted than anything and went into his bedroom. He collapsed on the bed, but couldn't quite get comfortable. So he rolled over and stared out his window into the night sky. He saw a very bright and shiny star in the sky directly outside his window. Chuckling to himself he thought,
"Well if it worked in Pinocchio, then why not for me?"
Smiling softly Bonkers closed his eyes and made a wish, in a voice barely above a whisper,
"I wish that, even if only for one day, I could be human."
