Story: Long Ago

Summary: InuYasha and Kagome were friends at age 7. But, InuYasha's father hit a stroke of luck and is moving away. So, Kagome promises InuYasha she'll wait for him...Ten years later, Kagome's itching to get the new kid, InuYasha, so her list of guys will be complete. But InuYasha won't succumb, will he?

Kai Akimo is a girl! When I wrote that chapter, I meant to write that Kai and Koro weren't both guys, but I made Koga 'introduce the guys' so it was irreversible. So, Kai Akimo is a girl! Thanks.

Chapter III

Bleh, Bleh, Bleh.

Walking into his last class of the day, InuYasha took a seat in the front of the room, closest to the teacher. He even went as far as to shift his desk up a bit, as long as the teacher would see anything passed between Kagome and himself. How he knew that Kagome would sit next to him? It was...a hunch.

Right before the bell rang, InuYasha felt the presence of someone sit beside him. He didn't have to turn his head, but listen to the quite annoying laughter of the girl he had been avoiding all day, Kagome Higurashi. She turned to InuYasha with a surprised look.

"Oh! I didn't know you were in this class, InuYasha!" She exclaimed, laughing straight after.

"Of course...Sango probably mentioned it a good ten times, but I don't think that was enough." He muttered to himself, before he looked up front to pay attention to the teacher. She was average height, with short black hair and bright brown eyes. She smiled, before calling attention to the class.

"I am going to be your Creative Recreation teacher, or what some of you would call a Gym or Art teacher. My name is Miss Konamura. Today, we'll be taking short notes on fencing." She said, pulling up an overhead.

"But first, I see we've had a few people leave this class and a few people join." Her eyes landed on InuYasha, who was paying full attention to her. She smiled, before doing a role call and matching people up.

"InuYasha Okiyo and...Kagome-wait. I think she left this class." Kagome almost did a face plant, before jumping up.

"But-"

"Excuse me, you'll have to sit down." She said, waving her hand. "In that case, InuYasha, you can pair with Sango Hakeda." InuYasha smiled as he moved his seat to beside Sango. She smiled back at him and grinned at Kagome.

"Oh, you are Kagome Higurashi. I was informed, obviously incorrectly, that you had transferred out of this class." Miss Konamura said to her. Kagome nodded.

"I tried, but they wouldn't let me. But, I'm staying." She said, hoping that Miss Konamura would restore her former partner.

"Well, Kagome. I'll have to make groups of three. I wasn't aware you were in this class." Kagome fumed quietly and took her seat again.

It turned out that InuYasha and Sango were joined by Kairalau Akimo, known to InuYasha as Kai. Looking a ton like her brother, Kai had dark red hair, which was currently done up in plaits, which hung over her shoulders, and had piercing blue eyes like Koga's. As InuYasha could sense, she was only half-wolf, as he could now tell as ears twitched underneath her red hair. She offered InuYasha a grin, that he returned.

"Well, now that you are all in groups, you've taken your notes, I suggest you practice a bit of fencing with your group. We'll be trying it in class next week."

"So, InuYasha. What are you gonna do about fencing?" Sango asked, leaning on her hands. He contemplated it for a while.

"Say...Kaira. You and Sango wouldn't happen to have anything to do after school, right?" He asked, looking at the both of them. They shared a look, before shaking their heads.

"Well, you could come with me to shop for equipment and then come back to my house and practice." He suggested, tapping his claws on the desk. Kairalau looked thoughtful, before speaking up.

"Sounds good to me. Could we meet up at your place, though? I'd have to tell my parents." Kairalau said sheepishly. Sango nodded as well.

"Yeah, no problem Kaira. Just meet me at three thirty. Here..." He said, before scrawling down his address twice, for the girls. Kairalau stuck it in her binder and Sango slid it into the pocket of her notebook.

"Sounds like a plan." Sango said, as the bell rang.

"So, InuYasha." Miroku started, as he already had his backpack and jacket on. InuYasha closed his locker and slung his backpack over his shoulder. "How was Creative Recreation?"

InuYasha shrugged uncaringly. "All right. I got paired up with Sango and Kaira for a fencing unit and we're going shopping for the equipment after school. I'd hang, but-"

"Oh no! I could come along! I've got to get those for Nakemura." He said, frowning.

"You have Mister Nakemura, don't you?" InuYasha shook his head.

"Miss...Konamura. Yeah, her." Miroku's eyes lit up.

"She's a babe." InuYasha slapped the back of his head. As soon as InuYasha approached his red Corvette, he heard giggles. He sighed. A group of Kagome's friends appeared, walking towards himself and Miroku. He could name them all; Ayame Joshin, another wolf-demon sought after Koga, Yuka Namuro, Ayumi Hamato, and Eri Nanaimo. Sango and Kairalau were edging towards him as well, although they reached him first.

"See you." They chimed together, before walking off.

"InuYasha!" He heard Kagome cry out. "I was wondering if you would mind that-" That's when InuYasha 'lost his hearing' and Kagome's words came out as, "Bleh, bleh, bleh," in his silvery inu-hanyou ears.

He wasted no time in hopping in his Corvette with Miroku alongside him and driving off.
