Title: Giving a Spork Means I Love You!

Author: Reyn

Rating: T because it’s mostly fluff

Disclaimer: I don’t own Kyo Kara Maoh.

Author’s Note: This idea sort of struck me out of nowhere one day, so I had to type it out on the spot before I lost it. For those of you who are curious as to where I got the whole ‘giving a Spork means I love you’, if you watch the end of episode one (or was it two?) you can see after the credits when Yuri is babbling on about the next episode he comments on the odd customs of the demon world and says ‘Does sticking a Spork in your mouth mean you love someone? Tune in next time…’ Basically this oneshot is a variation of that.

Summary: Ready to confess his feelings, Yuri goes about giving the gift that says ‘I love you’.

Pairing: Yuri/Wolfram

Warnings: A variation of the line ‘Does sticking a Spork in your mouth mean you love someone?’ as stated at the end of episode two.

GIVING A SPORK MEANS I LOVE YOU!

His Royal Highness, Yuri Shibuyastood back, looking down at his work proudly. After several hours of fighting with the tape, nursing numerous paper cuts, and struggling with the knot on the bow, he had finally finished wrapping the gift.

Yes, it was a tough battle, but in Yuri’s mind it was totally worth it. True, it had taken him the better part of three years to come to terms with his feelings, but in the end he found himself accepting and even returning the love he and Wolfram von Bielefelt learned to share.

Of course, Wolfram didn’t know this yet. When Yuri had initially realized his feelings, he was beyond surprised and decided it best to keep this shocking revelation to himself until he was good and ready to reveal his emotions. And at long last today was that day!

Tucking the gift under his arm, Yuri marched with purpose down the halls towards the library, where he knew Wolfram would be going over numerous maps with his eldest brother Gwendal von Voltaire in search of some underwater ground. Or was it underground water? Something about an ancient river that disappeared or something like that.

Shaking his head from his thoughts, Yuri opened the door to the library and peeked in. Sure enough, there was Wolfram and Gwendal, both wearing identical scowls as they studied the large map spread out on the table before them.

Gwendal was the first to look up, hisfrown deepening as he noticed the Demon King standing by the door.

“Is there something his Majesty needed?” he asked, his tone clearly indicating that Yuri was not welcome, even if he was here to help.

“Err…I was wondering if I could talk to Wolfram for a moment. Alone,” Yuri said, suddenly feeling nervous.

Both Wolfram and Gwendal seemed shocked by the simple request. Yuri never asked to speak to someone in private, feeling that he had no reason to hide anything he had to say from anyone. It was also a good strategy in reassuring people that he didn’t go aroundspreading secrets or lies.

Waiting until Gwendal had left the room and firmly shut the door behind him, Yuri turned to face Wolfram, who stood silently next to the table, unsure of what to say or how to react to such odd behavior from his fiancé.

“Here!” Yuri said, holding the present before him and bowing low to save him from looking the blond in the eye.

Wolfram stared at the item being held before him with distaste. It looked like garbage, but upon closer inspection it was a bit too decorative to be trash. The paper was rather colorful, despite the fact that it was completely wrinkled, and…was that a bow?

“What is it?” Wolfram asked, making no move to take the object.

Yuri looked up. “It’s a gift! For you!”

“For me?”

Wolfram felt a light blush spread across his cheeks. Taking the package from Yuri, he turned it around several times before finding a spot from where he could gently unwrap it.

Yuri was torn between watching the blonde’s face for his reaction and watching his hands carefully unravel the hours of work he put into properly wrapping the small box. Why did Wolfram have to open it so slowly? The suspension was killing him! Yuri decided he couldn’t look, so he averted his eyes to the map spread out over the desk.

At last Wolfram had removed the wrapping paper and was down to just the box. Pulling the lid off, he stared in astonishmentat the object sitting on the small pillow inside. And then...

“Err…Yuri? Why are you giving me an eating utensil?” he asked, extremely confused.

“What? But it’s not just any utensil! Look closely!” Yuri urged, shoving the box in Wolfram’s hands closer to his face.

Wolfram sighed, but decided to humor his fiancé. “Yuri, why are you giving me a Spork?”

“What! How can you ask me that! I spent long hours shopping for the perfect one! And then I had to argue with the store’s attendant to let me buy just one and not the whole set! Then I had to spend even more time searching for the perfect wrapping paper! And now look at my fingers!” Yuri held up his hands to show his ignorant fiancé his battle wounds, both which were covered in bandages. “I went through so much trouble to wrap the box carefully so that it would look nice!”

Wolfram stepped back, nervous about the king’s anger. “But why would you go through so much trouble over a Spork?”

Yuri drew back, clearly offended. “Because giving a Spork means I love you!” he shouted.

A bright red blush stained Wolfram’s cheeks as he looked back down at the Spork in the box with wide eyes. The Spork did look rather nice, even compared to the set they had in the castle.

“So…is…is this a custom from your world? Giving a Spork to show you…to that you have feelings for someone, I mean,” Wolfram managed to ask.

“Huh? In my world we just go out on dates and eventually get married. I thought the whole Spork thing was a custom from your world!”

“What gave you that idea?”

“Well, the time I picked up thatbutter knife and had to duel you I could have sworn someone told me that giving a Spork to someone is the same as saying you love them,” Yuri said thoughtfully.

Wolfram shook his head. “We have a different way of showing love here.”

“Oh? What is it?” Yuri asked, genuinely interested, his expression looking as if he was going to hear the most intellectual answer in the entire world.

Wolfram’s fading blush returned with a renewed vigor, but there was a determination in his eyes despite his nervous disposition. Tentatively, he took a step forward, and then another, closing the space between himself and Yuri.

The king stood still, wondering why Wolfram was moving closer. Was he about to divulge some forbidden secret?

The blond moved his head forward, his mouth pausing mere centimeters away from Yuri’s, as if waiting for any negative reaction. When none occurred, Wolfram closed the distance and gently sealed his lips against the one he truly loved.

Yuri’s breath hitched as his eyes widened. A kiss! Demons showed their love through a kiss! This was even more nerve wracking than when he was trying to decide between the jewel-encrusted Spork and the gold-crafted Spork!

True, he had finally come to terms with his love for Wolfram, but romance like this that came involved with it was still a whole new territory that he was very unsure about.

However, as Wolfram began to carefully move his lips against his own, a pleasant tingle shot through Yuri’s body and he decided this wasn’t such a bad thing after all as his eyes slid shut and he returned the kiss with just a hint of passion.

End Note: And that’s that! Yes, I know the original line was ‘sticking a spork in your mouth’, but this idea entered my head and who was I to deny it? Maybe I’ll write out a oneshot based on the actual line some other day.
