Alanna, White Wedding

The diamond ring was real, at least.

And her dress was white, for her alone.
Although her affairs, were kitchen hearsay.

From insult to injury, daisies adorned the chapel –
Off season, straight from the royal gardens.

Innocence. Fake.

Sir Myles walked her through the chapel;
He was after all her father,
adopted.

Friends, family, honoured guests.
Their smiles were, so very, insincere.

And had she given it any thought, Alanna would have noticed that the priest looked
oddly familiar.

She didn’t though; give the priest any thought.
Preoccupied and uncertain –
the love wasn’t quite for real and neither was she.
