Werewolf to the Stay-Bright Moon

Stay-bright Moon: in the darkness of the early hours she calls to me.
Howl, she beckons with her seductive eye.
Breathe, she insists with her demanding grimace.
Stay-bright Moon, how could I do else?-
When you, with your shepherd's awareness, are summoning your deamon flock.

You mock me, Stay-bright Moon.
With your long, lustful arms you would have me believe-
I laugh to think of it!-
That this blood-craving nature is first and free!
To you, it may be so; you see me thus-
But I take no joy in hunting.

Only the wolf's shallow heart is filled with life
as his paws tear the earth,
as his teeth ravage the wind.
Stay-bright Moon is fire in his soul,
But come the sunny morning,
Stay-bright Moon means nothing to me but pain.

My own torn flesh is the only rememberancer you give me.
So I, like a shame-faced virgin who has sinned, slink off into the day.
You've left your mark upon me, my Stay-bright Moon,
Now let me go
And weep as I continue on my way.
