Story: The Child Inside of Her

Summary: InuKag He thought a child of their own would be perfect-he didn't know what he wished for could be distorted.

Authoressa: Seems harmless but could be called sad, I guess.

The Child Inside of Her

He pushed the door to his house opened, the girl running inside.

"Whee!" She cried out, jumping onto the couch situated in the main room. He grinned at her sadly.

"Come on, it's time to eat darling." He said softly, pulling the girl into the kitchen and setting a bowl in front of her. She grinned.

"After, will you read me a story daddy?" She asked. InuYasha felt a grin come over him, despite how he had felt. She still called him daddy...She was confused.

"Of course I will..." He grinned and kissed her on the forehead. He sat there the whole time, watching her delicately pick up the spoon and feed herself...how she had grown from the last time...

She finished the soup in the bowl.

"I'm done! Can I go pick out a book?" She asked, her eyes lighting up at the thought.

"Just wait until your-"

"Oh come on, daddy! I've wanted to read a story all day! And you promised!" She whined. InuYasha couldn't help but walk up the stairs after her. She opened his room as he reached out. He began to stop her, but she had already picked something out of his bookshelf.

"Look!" She said, brandishing a photo book.

"I found a pretty picture book!" She exclaimed, sitting on his lap as he showed her the pictures.

"That's my mother." He said, pushing his claws softly into the surface, leaving a small puncture. She smiled.

"Your mommy was beautiful..." She breathed, her eyes lit up.

"And that was my dad." He told her, the familiar silver hair in the picture looking almost unreal.

"You look like him, daddy!" She exclaimed, pulling on a lock of his silver hair. He smiled.

"Yeah. And that, is Kagome."

"She's pretty, but hey-"

"Shh..." InuYasha said softly.

"And this, is you."

"But you said-"

The girl had fallen asleep minutes later. InuYasha pulled the covers up to the young woman's neck. Sighing, he pulled the picture of her-his Kagome- out of her hands as he softly brushed his hands over the scar in her hair, which had made her this way.

"Goodnight Kagome. Sleep tight."
