Disclaimer: Nothing. But I got all 5 on DVD..
"Well hon, you saw us on the porch didn't you? At least, I think you did. Use your imagination," I replied, smiling at her.
"Eww, mom. Gross." She made a face like she had just eaten twenty Sour Patch Kids in one sitting and had nothing to drink.
"Well you asked."
"Remind me not to next time."
"So, how many people in town know by now, do you think?" I wasn't too worried. Honestly I didn't really care if people know. Bring on their questions. I can take it.. for a couple minutes. Seriously. I'm a master at handling questions. I run an inn for god's sake.
"Well, Lane told me she heard that Ceasar and Miss Patty have a thing. So, that means," she pretended to count on her fingers for a few seconds, "everyone."
"No way. Ceasar and Miss Patty? Bu-But Ceasar's so much younger than her!"
"Do you think Patty cares?"
Smiling at her, I reply, "Probably not hon. Probably not."
"Lorelai I didn't say I've never heard of them, I said I never heardthem." At least I think that's what he was saying. I could only catch the tail-end since I was busy picking the phone up off the floor and untangling my legs. Damn blanket. Who left this here?
"One second Luke I'm being attacked by very hungry fleece blanket. It doesn't seem too eager to free me."
A minute later I'm free and sitting comfortably on the couch wrapped up in the fleece blanket and still chatting with Luke about Blondie.
"You know, when we finally go out on a real date, I'm going to make you listen to them in the car," I say, hoping he gets my impressively subtle hint that I want to go on a date sometime in the next fifteen years.
"Alright. I'll take you to the town gazebo. That way, we won't have to drive and I won't have to listen," he responds.
"What would we be doing in the town gazebo?" I asked. Well, I'm sure I could think of a few things.. I almost start to suggest something, dirty of course, when Luke interrupted me before I could speak.
"We could, you know."
"We could what?" This man is unbelievably cryptic.
"We could go on a date. Together. Like, a date." He cleared his throat loudly and I could definitely sense him getting uncomfortable.
"Are you sure? A date would mean you'd have to get dressed up and stuff. Dig something up that isn't flannel based. Do you own anything that fits these requirements?"
"Lorelai."
"No Luke, come on. Ohh I have an idea! Why don't we go shopping? I can dress you for our dates. You can have a dinner outfit, a stay home outfit, a fancy stay home outfit, an outside date outfit.."
My mind was definitely taking off with me..and Luke, I think, since I could hear him getting more frustrated on the phone. I have a 6th sense for aggravation, I guess. Mostly cause I'm usually the one who caused it.
"Lorelai.." he tried again.
"And we're going need to get shoes and socks to match all of them!" I squealed. Oh this was exciting indeed.
"Lorelai, I do not-"
"And a hat! Would you consider wearing a top hat?" I said, grinning wickedly.
"NO! And I do not need all that stuff," he replied.
"Well don't you want to look nice for me?" I said in a phony pouty voice.
"Lorelai.." he began again.
"I'm glad you know my name."
"Would ya quit interrupting me" he said annoyed, "and let me talk?"
"Alright, alright no need to get your undies in a bunch."
"My what? Und-..Never mind. Anyways. I think there's someplace I'd like to take you.. for a date. And it doesn't require a new wardrobe for me, either since I already have clothes."
"A baseball game?"
"No.. not a baseball game. Why would you think I'd take you to a baseball game?"
"Camping?"
"I didn't think you liked camping, either."
"You're right, I hate them both. I was just trying to figure out places you could wear flannel without standing out."
"Ahh. So, would you like to go or not?"
"Hmmmm," I said, pretending to think about it. I know it's mean, I can't help it. I love messing with him. He doesn't budge easily, I like the challenge.
"Lorelai."
"Yeah! That sounds good. I'm looking forward to it." And I genuinely was. Where was he going to take me? I never pictured Luke as a romantic kind of guy before.
"Me too," he said. "Well, I should be going to bed now. I've got to get up-"
"at 4:45, I know. You're insane."
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Luke."
I smiled, pulled the blanket tighter, and started thinking about what I should wear.
A/N: yesI KNOW it's short! But I'm writing it with my friend Morgan and she's been unavailable. I've been out of town over holidays and school started back up. Originially the date between L/L was going to be in this chapter but I can't get ahold of Morgan and plus, I figured we'd stretch the story out a little. I'd like to thank EVERYONE for the nice reviews. They're really appreciated. I'm sure you know that, if you have any fics on here. :
