Waking Nightmares

Chapter Two

Boromir strode down the hallway towards his father's apartments. He was worried about his brother. Something was wrong with his little Faramir, and he needed to know what. However, trying to pry it out of Faramir would do no good. His baby brother would just retreat further into his shell.

He knocked at his father's door and waited for him to allow him entrance before walking in.

"Father, I am worried about Faramir," Boromir stated without preamble.

Denethor sighed. No matter what anyone might be led to believe, he loved his youngest son very much. The only reason he couldn't connect with him is because there was so much of his beloved Finduilas that it hurt him to be near him. He too had noticed his son's unusual behavior, and he knew that whatever was distressing him was no trivial matter.

"I am also worried about our little one. I know he will not speak to me, but will he not confide in you? You two have always been so close."

Boromir sighed and shook his head. "He is be close-lipped about whatever is bothering him and it is driving me mad. I know something horrible must have happened to him to have him clam up like this, but I don't know what. I know it isn't his shoulder wound because he was fine up until the other day. What are we to do, father?"

"As much as it pains me to say it, child, we must wait. If he doesn't eventually confide in us, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. But if we force him, we will drive him away."

Tbc…

I know, short, but bear with me. Please review!
