Hermione smiled at Ron; Even though Harry and Ginny were practically her life, she felt a bit worried at going to a party that Ginny had helped with. Harry assured her, though, that he had taken down excess mistletoe.
Sitting on a couch that was covered in silver and red tinsel, Hermione sighed. Harry and Ginny were engaged to be married and had an adorable three-year-old son; Ron was married and happy. She was the only single one of the Trio. Ginny had set her up on countless dates, but Hermione hadn't seen a sight of any of them afterwards.
Hermione was getting quite tired of everyoe pushing past her, and had finally decided to leave no matter what Ginny said. ("You leave, and I'll cram mistletoe over the door and whoever walks in with you is gonna have to kiss you!")
Grabbing her black leather jacket, she slid it over the bright red party dress and tied her green sash again. She grinned at Harry, before pulling the curly mop of her hair from the collar of her jacket. She turned to the door, when it was pushed open on the other end.
Her eyes glazed over as she looked up at Draco Malfoy, his hand still on the doorknob and jacket still on. Hermione felt Ginny push her in the back and mutter 'mistletoe' under her breath. But, Hermione couldn't unfasten her eyes from his. Ginny nudged her again.
"There's mistletoe under the door for a reason?"
Nervous, Hermione stepped forward and pressed her lips to his softly. Her insides were rippling with happiness and sadness at the same time. Glimpses of their past came into her mind.
"Malfoy, you pervert, get away!" She cried out, as the blonde leaned towards her.
"It's called mistletoe, Granger. Don't be so naive." With a huff, she crossed her arms.
"I'm still refusing to kiss you." She made to push past him, but he grabbed her waist and whirled her around. Before she could state her anger, his lips descended on hers.
"Thanks for the kiss, Granger." He turned and walked off. She stared in awe at his retreating figure.
She frowned as she turned to walk out of the occupied bedroom. "Hermione!" He called out, reaching her before she left.
"Leave me alone, Malfoy!" She hissed maliciously, her eyes brimmed with tears. "I don't understand how you could think that I'm going to stay here and listen to what you have to say!"
"I think you should, considering all you did was walk in-"
"And I'm not blind, I can very well perceive what just-" She shook her head. "I'm troubling myself for no reason." She turned again, to walk off. He grabbed her wrist.
"Hermione-"
"What?" She cried out, her eyes threatening to spill tears of hate, remorse, and love all at once.
"Mistletoe." She looked up at the green mossy-like plant and shook her head.
"I don't care about the damned mistletoe, Malfoy." She stormed off, tears burning her dark eyes.
She pushed him away, to walk out of the door, tears in her eyes.
"Hermione!" She whirled around, her eyes wildly trying to focus on him as he walked towards her.
"I'm sorry, about everything. I miss you." He said softly, his eyes filled with emotion. She threw herself into his arms with a sob, and he embraced her happily.
"I'm sorry, too. I just couldn't stand what you did, but I couldn't ever hate you for it... " She said, her voice muffled by his jacket. He wiped her tears with the back of his hand and smiled at her.
"Wanna go back inside?" He asked her. She straightened herself up with a smile.
"Why not."
And this once, Hermione didn't mind the excess mistletoe.
