Hello! Welcome back, to yet again, another brand new story! Now, Extremities is probably one of the craziest stories I have. Is it an AU? Well…not really. But it’s something I wanted to try out once to see if it would work.
Summary: Two years after she made the wish with Desiree, Sam returns to Amity Park along with her family. Problem number one? She’s not done with high school yet and has to start all over back at Casper High in her senior year. Problem number two? Her transferred job as a cop to Amity Park isn’t easy. Her new boss and coworkers give her enough grief, not to mention her own parents and the cliques at school. Problem number three? Her new assignment as a cop is bogus and down near impossible. Catch the infamous Danny Phantom, the town’s most wanted ghost? So what is it about Danny Phantom that triggers some sort of hidden memory?
Starts out in the present (2006) when Danny and Sam (the main characters) are sixteen years old, their sophomore year. Then switches to the future (2008) when they’re both eighteen.
Disclaimer: Danny Phantom is owned by Butch Hartman and Nickelodeon Studios.

Chapter One
A Fate Foretold
“Does this ever remind you of something?” Tucker Foley asked, stretching his feet out across the seat in front of him.
“Going to the movies like usual?” Sam asked. “Sure? Why wouldn’t it?”
He gave her a look and she and Danny Fenton laughed. He tossed a piece of popcorn at her. “I meant the actual movie. Bad guy always gets caught by the good guy, who risks his life for the girl, but lives in the end even though he’s shot or stabbed or whatever?”
“It’s the same in every action movie,” Danny said.
“Not always. I like the ones with the girl heroes,” Sam said.
Tucker and Danny exchanged glances and tried not to laugh. She caught them anyway and smacked Danny, who was closest to her, in the forehead.
“Ow, what?” he asked, laughing. The two people behind them went “shh..!” as they tried to watch the movie.
Sam gave them looks. “You guys are so sick. I meant, I like the movies with the girl as the hero. Girls who kick butt.”
“And look good doing it,” Tucker said. “By kicking butt I mean.”
He gave a dirty grin and Danny snorted in laughter. Sam shook her head. Teenage boys.
“Whatever,” she sighed. She looked around. “Where are my cookies?”
“Your what?” Tucker asked very loudly, making the people behind them say “shh…” again. “Your what?” he whispered.
“I said, where are my cookies?” she repeated quietly, looking around.
Danny cringed. “They weren’t…chocolate chip, were they?”
“Yes, why?” she asked. She then realized what he’d said and stared at him. “Danny…did you eat them?”
“I didn’t know they were yours,” he said quickly.
She sighed. “You ate my cookies.”
“You know, this conversation does not sound right,” Tucker said, trying not to look at his friends’ faces so that he wouldn’t laugh.
“I’ll be right back,” she said, shaking her head.
Danny grabbed her hand. “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to get some more cookies, do you guys need a refill?” she asked. She walked to the side so she wouldn’t be in anyone’s way. They always sat at the edges anyway if they could.
Danny released her hand and shook his drink. “Nah, I’m good.”
“Yes,” Tucker said, holding out his.
“Oh, go get your own,” she retaliated, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Please?” he asked, nicely this time.
Sam smiled and took his drink, rolling her lilac eyes. “Be right back.” She walked down the main aisle and out of the theatre.
Those boys drove her nuts, but they were her best friends and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. She clenched her hand together, biting her lip painfully as she remembered his hand on hers. She had to remind herself that they were just friends and nothing more…even if she wanted more.
She hurried over to the concession stand and got herself another package of cookies and refilled Tucker’s drink. At least she wasn’t missing much with the movie; she hadn’t really been into it. Her best friends were right. It was the same line with every action movie that involved the attractive male hero and the lovesick girl in danger.
Her hair fell out as she tried to pick up the drink and she stomped her foot angrily as the clip slid down her front and she caught it in time. It was always falling out no matter what she did.
“Can I leave this here for a second?” she asked the clerk. She didn’t mind getting a little dirty sometimes, but taking food into the bathroom was just unsanitary whether she was just fixing her hair or not. “I’ll be right back,” she added. The clerk nodded and she set them off to the side and then walked to the bathroom, examining her hair clip.
She stared into the mirror and her reflection stared back. She had a pale, curvy face and slanted lilac eyes. Her black hair was a considerable amount longer, down near her shoulder blades. She was starting to like it a lot more, especially since Danny was always playing with it.
Sam felt like slapping herself. There she goes, back into Danny world again where everything is perfect and she’s the girl the hero saves in the end. She had her own little action movie all planned out in her head, but it would never happen.
She reached up to put her hair clip back in place and the lights flickered once and then dimmed. She stopped, looking around warily. She vaguely heard the lock click on the bathroom door.
“I don’t like to play games, so whoever is doing that, you have been warned,” she said calmly, turning around.
“Who says I’m playing a game?” a voice asked.
She jumped, but not because she was afraid. It was more of a surprise. She hadn’t expected anyone to reply back.
“What do you want?” she asked, rubbing her arms. It was a lot colder than it had been and a light bulb flashed in her head. Whoever it was, was a ghost.
A figure emerged from the shadows and Sam narrowed her eyes, trying to see its features, but it was too dark and whatever it was didn’t come any closer. But from what she could see and hear, it seemed to be female.
“What do you want?” she repeated.
“To deliver a message Samantha,” the voice replied.
“How do you know my name?” she demanded.
“I know more about you than you think,” she said. “I am a member of the Ghost Zone’s Observers.”
“The Observers?” she asked. “I’ve never heard of you before.”
“We know,” she replied. “We try to keep ourselves in solitude for as long as possible. At least, for those of us women. The males attract far too much attention.”
If Sam wasn’t so freaked and confused and curious at the same time, she would have personally agreed with this statement, but she didn’t understand why the ghost wasn’t attacking. Did this Observer really have a message for her?
“The other Observers like me, female, deal with changing the future, but in different ways than the males do.”
“You change the future?” she asked.
“We’ve done it for your friend Daniel, although that wasn’t entirely us. He along with another ghost, Clockwork worked together to change the course of the future.”
“You mean the future where I was dead and he was evil?” she guessed.
“Precisely. Unfortunately, we’ll have to do again. Except this time, I was sent. The Observers that were sent the last time ordered Clockwork to destroy Daniel. We’re here to do the opposite.”
Sam felt a cold chill run down her spine that she knew had nothing to do with the ghost. “W—what is that supposed to mean?”
“It means that your friend will die.”
She clapped a hand to her mouth, thinking. Danny? Would die? Could die? This couldn’t be true.
“You’re lying!” she shouted, hopelessness sinking over her.
“We’re not,” she said. “In exactly one day, Danny Phantom will die and the future will be at stake.”
“How? Why? Why is he going to die?” she asked, feeling her throat constrict. She could hardly say the word die…let alone imagine the actual thing.
“I am not allowed to say,” she replied.
“Why?” she asked, her voice breaking.
“I am only a messenger. But this is only half of the message,” she said.
“What is it?” she asked. “Did you see that the world was going to end too? How about my parents? Are they going to die? Valerie, Tucker, Jazz? What more can you people forsee that will ultimately ruin my life?” Her words came out harshly, trying to fight back tears.
“Samantha, you have a way to save the future…and save your friend,” she said.
Sam looked up. “What? How? I’ll do anything.”
“Listen. The only way to prevent this future is to permanently alter your friendship with Daniel.”
“I don’t understand,” she said.
“Under the secrecy of the Observers, what information you will now receive must never been revealed to anyone…do you understand?”
“Yes,” Sam said.
“Daniel’s life is terminated because he risks his life for another. A significant other. After his death, the world is jeopardized for eternity without a hero to protect it. Good eventually ceases to exist and those who resist are turned evil.”
“How do I save him?” Sam asked. “I don’t understand. How do I stop this?”
“You must permanently alter your friendship with the child,” she repeated.
“You mean…become more than a friend?” she asked, almost hopefully.
“No…just the opposite,” she said.
She understood. “I have to leave.”
“Perhaps,” she said vaguely.
“But he’ll try to find me, I know he will,” she pointed out. “I can’t leave just like that, he won’t…Unless…” Her face fell, remembering one single detail from their past. One thing that could stop it all from happening. And a way he wouldn’t be able to find her.
“Do you understand?” the ghost asked.
Sam nodded. “Danny will live. Without me.”

Chapter Two: Unsturdy
“Sam…you sure you’re alright?” Danny asked as they stepped out of the theatre.
“Danny, if you ask her that one more time, I will slap you,” Tucker warned. “But I have to agree with him on this one Sam, you don’t look so well.”
“What shall we do next?” she asked. “Our usual Ghost Zone hunt?”
“Of course,” Danny said. “We still have that one section of the Ghost Zone still left to map out. Besides that, my parents aren’t home.”
“Do you want me to leave you two alone?” Tucker asked.
