Summary: Every so slowly, bits and pieces of what they knew to be Jack disappeared to be replaced with something else - or, someone else. Will be slashy in later chappies, be ware.

It begins with an 'accident' -

His lungs was burning with the strain of not taking in the water completely surrounding him, head to toe. He tried to kick his feet to push himself up to the surface until he realised he was to far under water to make it, and too tired. It felt like his body was caving in on him, starting with his starving lungs and ending with the hope he left on the water bank. No. It ended with the voices promising that it would all be okay if he did this. It wasn’t okay, and he knew they must have lied about everything else as well. The betrayal burned with a more fierce flame than the lack of oxygen to his brain.

Just when he believed he had died, a hand locked it’s grip around his outstretched arm, and pulled him up, up and up, until all he saw was green forest and the hand was steadying him head as he coughed up water. He woke hours later, enfolded in strong, reliable arms while shuddering as the voices returned with fresh promises and honey lips.

Author's note: bla bla bla... dance for reviews.. yab yab yab. To be honest, I have no idea how to get this fic to where I want it to go. This is the first chapter of a longer story and a stubborn little plot-bunny that wouldn't bloody die on me. Bear with me on this one, please. Please. Oh yeah, if you wondered, the 'strong, reliable' (and sexy) 'arms' belong to none other than - oh, shall I tell, or leave you hanging?
