End of an Era
“I’m really going to miss her.”
“When does she leave?”
“This afternoon, Deakins said.”
“This afternoon? That’s not much time to say goodbye.”
“I know. But maybe it’s better this way.”
“How long have you been together?”
“Oh, six, seven years. Something like that.”
“It really is a pity.”
“Yeah.”
“I mean, she’s beautiful.”
“She is.”
“I’d kill to have her… Can I have her?”
“No, you can’t have her!”
“Oh, so it’s like that.”
“Like what?”
“If you can’t have her, no one can.”
“No, it’s not like that. I want her to be loved. Just not by you.”
“But, Goren, be fair. You’ve seen what I’m stuck with!”
“You’ll have to take that up with Deakins.”
“C’mon, man – she’s unstable.”
“She’s… perfectly serviceable…”
“What? You mean you used her?”
“Only once. A long time ago.”
“I don’t believe this!”
“Oh, for Christ’s sake get over yourselves,” Eames looked up from her laptop. “It’s only a desk.”
Bobby sighed. “But she’s important to me.”
“It’s still a desk, Goren,” Eames handed him a printout. “Now, tell me what the heck this all means.”
“Wait, you were talking about desks?” Logan frowned.
Bobby looked up. “What were you talking about?”
“Uh, nothing…” Logan retreated behind his pillar. “Nothing at all.”
