A/N: Mistakes are my own, sadly my beta is going to be away for a while, a few days, and doesn't have time to edit for me.I tried especially hard to edit mistakes out, and if reviewers could mabey comment on it, I'd be a little more confident in posting without consulting my beta. But I miss her dearly, I hope you enjoy this Serenity!

Ren sighed as he looked out the window, the white covered hills being brightened by the sun. He watched as the early birds flew to each other, spreading their wings and making chirping sounds and greetings to the new morning. The window was closed, and the house was a normal temperature, Ren was fully dressed and it was 7:30 in the morning. Ren hadn't slept all that much last night, more because he was annoyed than excited. He'd gone two whole weeks expecting someone to mention his birthday, but no such luck. He knew they knew, atleast one of them had to. He also knew that Jun had been writing to Anna from China, which meant she surley would have mentioned it right? It was January1st, and to his disatifaction, everything was normal.

He hadn't hope for something big, mabey just a little bit of consideration, perhaps a congrates for hitting 16? But his small hopes were crushed as he went through the night unoticed. All he'd heard were some slight shuffles and people going to the bathroom. He'd finally fallen asleep around 2:00am, and he'd awoken not much later at 6. He'd not gone out of his room, not even to go to the toilet. He didn't need to anyway. Gazing out the window again, he decided he was going to stay in his room. Confinment, it was all he'd ever known, and was obviously what he was destined to have.

He trudged back to his bed silently and let out a breath as he let his body sink into the plush matress. He'd refused to sleep on the floor when moving into the Asakura residence, and had bought a bed. He claimed it was unhealthy to sleep where the dirt lingers. Horo had given him an odd look, Anna had agreed(therefor getting a bed for her and Yoh's room also),Manta had no say in it, as he didn't live there, and the others simply didn't care. He rolled over in bed and stared at the wall, his head resting on a soft pillow. Slowly he let his eyes close, and he fell into sleep.

Later, he was awoken timidly by Tamao, who he accidently scared when he jumped out of the dreams he'd been enduring. Apologizing, he sat up and looked over at the digital 's bright red lights read 2:30pm. He'd slept all moring? He'd never done that!Looking back at the pink haired girl, he noticed that she was still there, a small tint to her cheeks and a shy look.

" Uh...Why did you wake me?"

"I...I-I...Yoh-sama wanted me to get you, and Anna-sama said that you were being lazy, even Horo's up. " She replied quietly, shying away almost straight away.

" They wish for you to meet them downstairs, lunch is ready." She said quickly, and left the room.

Ren sat there and listened to the retreating steps, waited as they faded. Noticing he was still dressed, he got out of bed and walked over the the mirror. He fixed the loose strands of hair quickly, and then straightened out his slightly creased clothing. Giving a small sigh, he left the room, shutting the door tightly behind him.

He didn't hear anything while walking down the stairs, and it was strange. Normally, you'd be able to hear Horo and Yoh playing video games, or just talking loudly or laughing from a mile away. He'd heard nothing, and he knew that they were in. Tamao wasn't one to lie, she didn't have the heart to lie to her companions. Ren often wondered if that was the reason she was so timid, did she have a frail heart? The though made him a little queezy, so he shoved it away, not wanting to think of any of his friends dying. Especially not today.

As he reached the living room, he still heard nothing, and the silence was starting to get to him, reminding him of the silent corridors of the Tao mannor. So he pushed open the door, and got ready to glare, only to be scared half to death by the sudden yelling and cheers. Party streamers and colourful decorations were littering the room, a big banner sitting at the top of the wall over the other side of the decorated room. It read, "Happy Birthday Ren!" And as he read the words, something twinkled in his eyes, and he felt his stumach go all warm. Everyone was congratulating him, and hugging him, but he stayed silent, not knowing how to react to it all.

When the noise died down, and the it was quiet enough for him to be heard, he looked around again, and gazed at the other occupants of the room. There was Yoh, Anna, Pirika, Horo, Tamao, Ryu, Lyserg, Chocolove and Manta. He noted Faust and Eliza sitting in the corner,but his eyes did not linger, as he also got a glimse of some tounge. Cringing inwardly, he looked back to the others, noting that they were waiting for him to speak.

" I...I've never..." He struggled, then looked at Yoh, and his warm smile relaxed his nerves a little.

" Thanks" He said, putting on a small smile of his own as the people created noise again and started cheering.

The afternoon went quickly, Ren recieving presents and cards, and people telling him how much they thought of him. He was no longer disapointed, and he should have known they'd do something like this.

" Oh yeh, by the way, how did you know?" He asked, the question not really being directed to anyone.

" Jun" Anna said plainly. Ren nodded, but turned round as the door bell rang.

" Speaking of Jun.." Horo trailed off, a silly grin plastering his face.

Ren's eyes widened as Faust got up to get the door and a few moments later, he returned, Jun following behind, a smile on her face, and a gift in her hand. Ren breathed in deeply.

" Jun. " He stood up slowly.

She nodded.

" I-I...What about your buisness?" He asked, not sure what to say.

" Nothing can keep me from my baby brother." She shrugged. Ren blushed slightly at the words, but hugged her non-the less, accepting the gift and thanking her.

After the party was over, and Horo and Choco had stuffed them selves full of food, Yoh and Anna chatting a little and Faust and Ryu talking, Ren looked around at the messy room. Jun was talking with Tamao and Pirika, obviously involved in a deep topic, as the two younger girls stayed quiet and nodded. Ren suddenly felt himself being tugged out of the room, unnoticed by anyone. When he was out of sight, he looked round the the person who was taking him out of the party, but his words were stopped as he felt a pair of lips on his own. His eyes widened, but the kiss wasn't too long, so when the person stepped back, he just stood in shock.

" Happy Birthday Ren" He heard them wisper.

He shook his head slightly, and looked up a little at the person. His eyes widened a little more when he saw who it was. Horokue Usui had just kissed him. On his birthday. He smiled, and Horo grinned.

"Thanks" He mumbled, as they leaned in again for another kiss.

Oh yeh, and if any one mentions the fact that Ren smils a little in here, shut up, unless it's good feedback, because I think that Ren's heart has warmed, he even smiled atleast twice in the series. No, not smirking, smiling. -pokes out tounge-
