A/N: Am in the process of watching all the LOTR movies, extended editions. This drabble came out of it.

-Grasp-

It is beautiful.

And powerful. I feel its power through my sword, and I tremble inwardly. Such power…wonderful power, hateful power, destroying power. I am afraid of it, but in the same breath I want it, obsess over it, need it. The power that my brother failed to bring could be mine. The power to gain my father’s attention is within my grasp.

I hear it calling.

The power that caused the slaughtering of millions; the power that almost undid Middle Earth.

The hobbit cries out and pushes away, huddling in a corner, weak.

I fear what I almost did.
