Hamgirl: Hey, people! Well, this is my second Naruto fic.
Hope you like it!
Main pairing: Shino OC
Don’t own Naruto or its characters.
The dragon ninja joins team 8!
It was a bright, sunny, peaceful day in the hidden leaf village.
The birds were singing, the bugs were humming and… “SHINO!” shouted a loud mouth boy as he ran up to meet his friend and teammate.
Shino let out a long sigh and glanced over at his loud teammate.
“Yes, Kiba...?” said Shino, not really wanting to deal with his teammate right now.
“Did you hear the rumors about a late academy student becoming a genin?” asked Kiba, smiling.
Shino stared at him and didn’t answer.
True, he had heard the rumors, but didn’t put much thought into them.
Kiba sighed when he didn’t answer, but then again, he hadn’t expected an answer.
“Well, anyway, another rumor is that he or she is going to be on our team!” shouted Kiba as if it were the best thing in the world.
Shino mentally cringed as he shouted; did he have to be so loud 24/7?
Just then, Hinata walked up to see what Kiba was shouting about so early in the morning.
Kiba told Hinata about the rumors.
“That’s great, we’ll have a new teammate,” said Hinata shyly.
Shino sighed again.
“Great...another teammate, hope he or she isn’t anything like Kiba,” thought Shino as their sensei appeared out of nowhere to start their lesson.
“Okay!” said Kurenai, trying to get her team’s attention.
“As you might have heard, there’s a new genin on the block,” said Kurenai, looking at her team, “and she’s going to be on our team,” she finished.
Kurenai looked at all her student’s faces and smiled at their expressions.
Kiba was grinning like an idiot, Hinata smiled a shy smile and Shino looked a little annoyed, but who could really tell?
“Her name’s Tatsu Shina,” said Kurenai looking at the newcomer’s profile.
Hinata beamed, she was happy that there was going to be another girl on the team.
Kiba seemed happy and hoped the new girl was cute.
Shino sighed inwardly; he hoped the new girl wouldn’t be any trouble.
“So...where is she?” asked Kiba as Akamaru barked with excitement.
“I’m right here,” shouted a girl’s voice.
Kiba and the others spun around to see a girl sitting in a nearby tree, smiling at them.
Kiba’s first thought was how pretty she looked.
And to be truthful, she was a looker.
Shina had long, bright, golden hair that she wore down and deep ruby red eyes that shined with playfulness.
She wore a pair of brown pants with the traditional sandals of the shinobi and a red silk shirt with a golden dragon symbol in the middle of the front and back of her shirt.
She wore an orange sash tied around her waist, too.
She also had the shinobi makimono pouch on with her shuriken holster attached to her leg.
And last of all, she had her Hitai-ate on her forehead tilted a little to the right.
“Hi! My name’s Shina!” said the girl, smiling at her team.
“Hi, my name’s--,” began Kiba, but was cut off by Shina.
“You’re Inuzuka Kiba with your dog Akamaru, right,” said Shina, smiling knowingly.
“Yep,” said Kiba, giving her a playful growl.
“And you’re Aburame Shino, right?” said Shina with a faint blush on her cheeks.
Shino just nodded slightly.
“And you’re Hyuga Hinata.”
“How’d you know our names?” asked Kiba, looking at Shina.
“Well, the sheet I was given had them on it,” said Shina as she showed the paper to them, with “team 8" printed on the top.
Everyone sweat dropped.
“Besides, I’ve known Hinata since we were kids.”
Shino and Kiba looked at Hinata, who nodded in confirmation.
“Shina’s is a really good friend of mine.”
Shino and Kiba just nodded slightly.
“Good! Now that we’re all acquainted, let’s get started.” said Kurenai as she motioned Shina to join the group.
Shina watched as her team headed to the training grounds.
Shino could feel Shina staring at him, and turned to look at her.
She was still in the tree, and as he looked at her, she gave him a playful wink and jumped out of the tree to catch up with the group.
“She’s definitely different,” thought Shino as Shina run past him and began to talk to Hinata.
A few minutes later, they reached the training grounds.
“Okay, I’m going to split you up into groups of two to train,” said Kurenai.
Shino sighed inwardly.
“Kiba and Hinata, you’ll be together.”
Kiba didn’t mind training with Hinata, but he had hoped to get paired with Shina.
“And Shino and Shina, you’ll be together.”
Shino pushed his glasses up and looked at Shina; for some reason, she seemed happy.
The two took fighter’s stances and got ready to begin training.
“You know I won’t go easy on you just because you’re a girl...” said Shino dangerously, putting his hand on his holster.
“I didn’t expect you to,” said Shina as her eyes shown with determination.
With that, their kunai clashed as they hit the sound of cold, hard, metal ringing through them.
The girl was quite skilled, a minute ago she seemed all happy-go-lucky, but her fighting style was that of a true shinobi.
The two were matching each other move for move.
Shino was impressed by how good she was.
Their spar went on for a long time until Kurenai said training was over.
The two looked at her in disbelief. They could hardly believe that they had been sparring that long.
“Dude, you guys have been at it for six hours,” said Kiba, amazed.
“Really?” said Shina, clueless.
Shino had also lost track of time, but didn’t say anything.
Shina looked at Hinata, who nodded.
“Yep! But it’s time for you guys to go home, so...later!” said Kurenai as she left, leaving team 8 to themselves.
“So, Shina, what’s your bloodline attack?” asked Kiba curiously.
Shina laughed and then smiled evilly.
“It’s called the Elemental Dragon Jutsu,” said Shina.
Kiba’s eyes went wide; he had heard of the jutsu before.
“Doesn’t it combine all five elements together in the form of a five headed dragon?” asked Kiba.
Shina nodded proudly.
“Yep, and it’s almost impossible to avoid.”
Everyone seemed impressed, and began to explain their own bloodline attacks.
“Hey, I bet you think bug freak over here has the weirdest bloodline trait,” said Kiba, putting his arm on Shino’s shoulder.
Shino’s eyebrow twitched at Kiba for using that stupid nickname.
“Not really, I think all of you guys’ bloodlines are cool.”
Kiba was stunned, but smiled, showing his canine-like teeth.
So you’re an open minded girl; I like that,” said Kiba happily.
About an hour later, the team departed and went their separate ways.
Shino began walking home when he heard someone call his name.
He turned to see Shina racing to catch up with him.
He waited until the girl was beside him, out of breath.
“My house is near yours, so I figured we could walk home together,” said Shina looking hopefully at Shino.
“Fine,” said Shino as he pushed his glasses up and began to walk again.
Shina smiled and walked beside him.
The two walked in silence for awhile until Shina broke it.
“So, Shino,” said Shina in an attempt to start a conversation, “you like bugs a lot?”
Shino didn’t answer for awhile.
Just when she thought he would never answer he spoke.
“Yes...they are my clan’s specialty...” said Shino in a monotone voice.
Things grew silent again until they reached a fork in the road.
“Well, my house is this way, so...later!” said Shina as she ran down the right path.
Shino just shook his head slightly and started down the left path.
“Hey Shino, I like bugs and nature, too!” shouted Shina from the other path.
Shino turned and looked in Shina’s direction.
She smiled and did a peace sigh and disappeared down the path.
Shino sighed and continued down his own path.
“Shina is definitely not like other girls...she’s crazy” thought Shino to himself.
“...yet oddly charming...” thought Shino.
He started shaking his head at that last thought and continued on his way home…
End of chapter 1
Hamgirl: So did you like it so far? I hope so.
Shino: ……
Hamgirl: So, Shino, do you like your future girlfriend?
Shino: ...girlfriend...I thought she was my new teammate...?
Hamgirl: Right now, she's just you’re teammate, that’s why I said future girlfriend.
Shino: …..
Hamgirl: Shino…
Shino: She’s alright…
Hamgirl: (gasps) she’s alright! That’s no way to win a girl’s heart, Shino!
Shino: She’s just my teammate.
Hamgirl: (gasps again) Oh well, you’ll change your mind later on when she comes to your rescue!
Shino: Rescue?
Hamgirl: Anyway I’m not sure if I’m going to continue this story.
Maybe if I get at least 5 reviews or if you guys like it.
Either way, it will be awhile if I do update, because I’m trying to finish my other story, D.N.Angel: Ice.
So, until next time, bye!
Shino: What exactly are you planning to do to me...?
Hamgirl: Hehehe… you’ll have to wait until the next chapter!
