Notes: For the 1-sentence LJ comm. Objective: fifty one-sentence drabbles for a pairing.
Also-this is not a list or a non-story. It's fifty stories collected in one document.
Motion
Tim had always liked T. S. Eliot, until the shaking of a single brown-and-blue head told him otherwise.
Cool
It makes them feel opposed, when Tim's breath fogs up the plating on Victor's chest.
Young
Victor had felt young before Tim-it wasn't about age, or height, or experience-but rather the shame, and how sometimes Tim couldn't look him in the eye.
Last
It won't, it won't, it won't, Tim thinks, until Victor says, "It will."
Wrong
It isn't wrong because Tim is young or a boy or human, but because he isn't ready.
Gentle
He's always surprised at the gentleness in Victor's voice when they fight; as though he hopes Tim will win, just so he can feel better.
One
This wasn't their first relationship, but they hoped it was their last, that it was their singular state of being.
Thousand
When they'd been together for one-thousand seconds, Tim declared an anniversary; he liked to celebrate the little things.
King
They're two kings because neither wants to be a queen-Tim's had enough of drag.
Learn
Victor has more to learn than Tim, because he knows more the boy wonder-he has to find his way back to his childish optimism.
Blur
WHen the world blurs they reach out to touch the other's cheek, whiping tears with metal and gauntlet, imagining that they can feel the warmth despite the barriers.
Wait
They could both go faster, falling into something new, but the waiting is what they like the most.
Change
Exposing secrets changes everything, like respect, and trust; but it's hard to doubt Batman's sidekick.
Command
He told Victor not to worry, though he gave him little persuasion-Tim's confidence begs him to obey, but his actions say otherwise.
Hold
Despite not having one, Victor sometimes felt as though Tim had strung his heart on a zip-line, and left it hanging on the sky.
Need
"I don't need it," he said, fitting himself against Victor's cool, metal exterior, "I don't need anything that you can't give; can't have."
Vision
Victor can't see ultraviolet light with his left eye, and sometimes Tim will disappear beneath the blue and leave him searching with nerveless hands and human frailty.
Attention
He's the only one Tim will touch with bare hands-look at with bare eyes.
Soul
Tim chose one of his chips and decided it held his soul, before writing "mine" on it and putting it back in; Victor never saw this, but sometimes he feels it in the form of a permanent glitch.
Picture
This was not the life either had pictured, but they like it all the same.
Fool
His costume makes him feel like a jester, so it always disappoints him when he can't make Victor smile.
Mad
Their parents would be mad at them for what they are, if any of them had lived long enough to find out.
Child
"I used to be a kid," Victor said sadly, and Tim though of a distant circus before answering, "Me too."
Now
They live in the moment, because even when the moment changes, they're still together.
Shadow
When Tim lets the cape engulf him, and stands beside Victor, he can feel himself fading from view.
Goodbye
They will never say it because neither would believe the words.
Hide
It used to matter-keeping "them" a secret-until Tim found the courage to kiss him in the streets, realizing that he owed the world nothing.
Fortune
Tim used to be rich, until he ran away from every opportunity, to be with Victor, and found his fortune on foreign planes.
Safe
They didn't have to worry about the other's safety, and it was the kind of trust that made sleep sweeter.
Ghost
"When Jason died, Alfred says his ghost returned to the manor-I hope I never go back, not without you."
Book
Victor doesn't need to physically read, but sometimes he manages to forget; like when Tim takes the time to buy and wrap computer manuals for him.
Eye
Tim likes to kis his red eye even though Victor can't feel a thing, and it dirties the lense.
Never
It was so impossible and ludicrous that they put the idea of leaving the other right out of their minds.
Sing
Tim sleeps in Victor's room so he can listen to the hum and whine of his generator-the noise keeps him awake, but it lets him know they're both alive.
Sudden
The news of his stepmother's death shakes him to the edge of his limits; Tim hates to think he lost something twice after never really having it.
Stop
When Victor stops breathing, Tim knows he's just going to sleep, but sometimes he forces air into his body anyway; he can't fight instinct.
Time
When Tim blurts out, "You're going to outlive us all," Victor pays him no attention-he is prepared to unplug himself, when he's ready to go.
Wash
Tim likes to wash Victor because, afterwards, he can see himself in the reflective surfaces; Victor likes to wash Tim because, afterwards, he can see who he used to be.
Torn
At first, Tim had to choose between sex and love, but he'd only ever had tastes of the latter, so he decided to savor it with Victor.
History
Each has a history full of girls they won't talk about.
Power
Sometimes Tim feels inadequate because Victor could crush him with a single hand, and Victor feels the same because he'd have to catch him first.
Brother
If Dick is like a brother to Tim, why can't he bring himself to mention Victor?
God
THey don't talk about God, because fire and brimstone aren't as bad as loneliness.
Wall
Once, Tim sliced open his side with a birdarang, and touched the split wires with his gloved hands, "One wall gone, one to go," Victor said, before losing consciousness.
Naked
Victor has been naked for almost half a decade, and only Tim has ever commented on it.
Drive
He loves his car because he can steer with a cable link and hold Tim at the same time.
Harm
Tim wonders how bad it would really be to come out to his new family.
Hunger
Victor doesn't need food, but he eats as much as possible, convinced that he's filling some void.
Precious
Tim's yes are bright blue and their rims are raw red and purple from the mask, but Victor stores every glimpse of them in his photographic memory.
Believe
Tim never believes that Victor will have a whole body again, because that would mean he found fault in it now.
