False Dawn
Gaara used to hate the night. It was insomnia to him, and the fear of being assassinated, and loneliness that intensified while others slept. As much as he didn't like his siblings, they were at least interesting when awake. Asleep, they were boring. Everyone was. Like the dead.
These days Gaara watches the sun rise with narrowed eyes. The silence of false dawn is the only respite from signing papers and listening to whiny requests and all the other silly duites of a Kazekage that no one warned him about when he applied for the job.
He watches the sun rise and wonders if he should warn Naruto.
