Chapter One: No, I wont.

Riku entered through the door into the shower room of the school. He slipped off his shirt and walked towards the mirror. With his back facing the mirror he eyed his tattoo. Gently rubbing his hand over it, memories filled his mind.

Sora and Riku are standing outside a questionable tattoo parlor. Fear in their eyes.

"If we don't get one Riku. We wont fit in at high school! Everyone will make fun of us!" the younger Sora said. They had just passed grade seven and were going into grade eight, the year they go to the high school.

Riku rolled his eyes at Sora, "Fine, Let's just get this over with." Riku did his best to hide his fear and Sora seemed to buy it.

They both entered the tattoo parlor and looked around. It was rather dingy looking place. The walls definitely needed as fresh coat of paint, or six. Riku walked up to a black haired girl behind the counter.

"We would like a tattoo please," he said with confidence in his eyes.

For a moment she just eyed him with question, but she shrugged it off and pointed to two men. A man with lush, blonde hair grabbed Riku by the arm and guided him to the curtain. Riku caught a glimpse of Sora being taken into the room by a large man who could only be described as frightening beyond all reason.

Riku came outside after successfully getting a tattoo, to find Sora sitting on the sidewalk, with his head down. He sighed and left the parlor after paying the lady his amount due.

He sat down beside Sora. Sora kept looking down but spoke.

"I got too scared. I couldn't do it, Riku. I'm sorry."

Riku looked at him with a shocked look, "It doesn't matter, Sora."

Sora stood up and Riku followed suit.

"But you will fit in and I won't. You wont be my friend anymore," Sora said with tears in his eyes.

"Don't worry about it Sora. I will always be your friend; I'll always be here for you. Always," Riku said looking deep into Sora's eyes. The tears from Sora started to subdue.

Riku embraced Sora in a hug and for that moment, everything felt perfect in their lives.

Riku sighed and turned away from the mirror, tears starting to fill his eyes. He wiped them away and picked up a towel. After hanging it on the shower door, he slid off his pants and placed them on the bench next to his shirt.

He opened the door to the shower and turned on the water. The hot steamy water felt good on his cold skin. It has been almost one year since they got off the island. Naminé and Riku have continued dating, and their relationship gets stronger with every passing day. It is a different story, however for Kairi. She has been dating on and off with different boyfriends all year, some times a new one every week. Kairi will date the guy for two days, sleep with him, and then dump him.

Riku knew this was all because of the traumatic events of Sora's death. It had affected them all but Riku and Naminé expressed their feelings about it. Kairi kept them locked up tight. Keeping them secret from everyone.

Riku wondered if anything would ever be the same between them. He doubted it.

He turned off the water from the shower and opened the door. Riku grabbed the towel and headed out towards his clothes, by the door to the gym. He grabbed the towel and started to dry his hair off. After that he started to dry off his body when the door opened. Naminé peeked her head in through the door and spotted Riku. She let out a small smile and approached him.

"Hey, you should hurry up. The Year End Ceremony is going to start in a bit," She said with concern in her voice. Every year there was an award for Student of the Year and Naminé always won it.

"Why bother? You know you are going to win," Riku replied with s smirk as he used the towel to dry off his back.

"Don't kid like that. I probably didn't get it this year, I almost never get it."

"Nami, you have gotten it every year since you moved here. I think it is safe to say that you are going to get it," He replied while drying of his chest.

Naminé smiled and pressed up against his naked body. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him. The passion that flowed through their lips was incredible. It seemed like forever before they broke off.

Naminé looked deep into his eyes. She could tell the sadness inside them. It almost tore her apart. Nami wrapped her arms around his waist and gave him a heartfelt hug. She didn't want to let go; it was too much.

"How much time do we have until it starts?" Riku asked with a seductive smile on his face.

"About thirty minutes," she replied, returning the smile.

It wasn't before long that they were all over each other.

Riku and Naminé opened the door to the auditorium just in time. They scanned over the crowed and a spotted what seemed to be Kairi and a new boyfriend. Nami lead Riku over there, she sat down next to Kairi.

Kairi's new boyfriend had dark skin and extremely short black hair. He looked about sixteen to eighteen. She seemed to be into him, but she always seemed to be.

Riku and Nami let out a quick hi before the principal came out and stood on the stage. She had white hair and glasses, she looked very old but there was something of an upbeat enthusiastic personality of hers.

"Ahem, Good morning students of Destined Hearts High School. Today, as you probably know, is the last day of the year…" She said.

Riku glanced over at Kairi and her new boyfriend. She seemed to be happy with him, but he knew it wasn't going to last. He began to wonder how long it would last. A week? Maybe.

"Now for our first award. The Student of the Year Award and it goes to," The teacher said with enthusiasm as she opened an envelope, " Naminé Soule!"

Nami blushed and stood up and walked down the aisle of chairs. Everyone was clapping; the more they clapped the more she blushed. Riku grinned. She came back after saying a little speech of thanks and sat down, still blushing.

"Congratulations," Riku said with a kiss.

"Thanks."

"Yeah congrats, Naminé," Kairi said with a grin.

"Thanks," Naminé replied, "So who is you new boyfriend?"

"I think his name is Alfonzo."

"You think?" Riku replied.

"Yeah, I wasn't listening when he told me."

Riku rolled his eyes and turned his attention back to the stage. Looks like another award was being presented.

"And the Best Literature Award goes to…," the principal said, "Riku Masaki, for his story, 'Break Away'."

Riku couldn't believe it, he got up and walked down to the stage. He picked up his award and made a small speech, he didn't forget to mention that that story was true, and that Sora's memorial service would be in a few days.

He made his way back up to his seat with his trophy and put it beside Nami's. They began to have a conversation about college as the principal continued to talk.

"I really want to go to Art School," Naminé said with a smile.

"That sounds perfect for you, I have no idea where I am going to go," Kairi said with a frown, "What about you Riku?"

"Probably a writing school of some sort."

They continued to talk about college until the principal dismissed them for summer holidays. Kairi and the-boy-supposedly-named-Alfonzo left. Riku and Nami sighed; they knew Kairi was going to sleep with him.

"Want to go to the Beach?" Nami asked Riku, slipping her hand into his.

"Sure," he replied back.

They began to make their way through the crowd and left the school. Naminé and Riku stared into the ocean. Riku could make out the small island on the horizon. It was then that he saw something floating to them in the water. It was a glass bottle that looked familiar. He grabbed it and popped the cork off, releasing the message.

Nami looked over his shoulder and he read the message. It read:

Dear Finder of this Message,

Me and three other teenagers have been shipwrecked on the small uncharted island off the coast of the Central Island. Please come and rescue us, ASAP. The names of the teenagers stuck on the island with me are Kairi Rein, Naminé Soule and Sora Harada. My name is Riku Masaki. Please send help, we are in desperate need.

Sincerely,
Riku Masaki

Tears ran down Riku's face as he read the message; he had sent this, just moments before Sora died. Nami rubbed his back as tears started to fall down her face as well. Then a hand touched Riku on his shoulder, making them jump. He turned around to be face to face with Sora's Mom, Vanessa Harada,

"Hello Riku," she said with a dead, depressing voice.

"Hello Mrs. Harada," he replied in the same depressed voice.

She handed him four cards.

"They are for Sora's memorial service," she said, "It is tomorrow, there are four, I thought Kairi would have a boyfriend."

"Yeah, she does, thank you."

She nodded and left in a slow, depressed manner. Riku looked at the invites as he started to cry again. It was no surprise to him that it started to rain but he didn't care.

Nami placed her hand on Riku's shoulder, "Come on, let's go back to my house."

They left for her house; it wasn't before long that they reached her large white and blue house.

"I'm home, Kameko!" Nami yelled upon entering the house.

An average blonde haired woman came out of the living room. Her hair was about shoulder length and curled outwards. She had deep green eyes that looked like a fresh plant.

"Hey sweetie, Oh and you brought Riku too." She said with a smile.

"Hello, Mrs. Soule," He replied with a smile.

"Hello dear."

"Riku is going to be staying the night," Nami said to her adoptive mother.

"All right, have fun," She said as she left for the living room.

Nami smiled and grabbed his wrist taking him upstairs to his room. She opened the door to reveal a large bedroom littered with drawings all over the walls. In some places she drew right onto the wall. There was a queen-sized bed beside the window and a drawing desk in the corner. A large walk in closet took over the other wall.

Riku had only been in her bedroom a few times; they usually stayed at his house. He loved her room because every time he came there would be new amazing drawing in which she had drawn. Gazing around the collage of pictures he found one he recognized. It was the picture that she drew of him while on the island. The detail she impressed on the picture was astonishing.

He looked away and spotted another familiar drawing, this one however was on the bark of a tree. Riku turned around and sat on her bed, facing her.

"Hey, do you think I could go on?" he asked her, looking at the laptop in front of him.

"Sure, just one second." She replied. She closed the web page she was reading and deleted the history. Then she turned its screen over to Riku and he put it on his lap. He logged onto Google and searched 'How to locate Birth Parents'. Riku could still remember the promise that he made to her about finding her real parents Nami seemed to be drawing another picture; Riku didn't take much notice into it. He knew how much she didn't like showing people unfinished drawings.

"I think we should go to sleep," Nami said as she closed her drawing book.

"Yeah, I agree."

Riku turned off the computer and set it down on the floor. Then he crawled up to his side of the bed, took off his shirt, and went under the covers. He put his arms around Naminé and it wasn't long before they were fast asleep.
