Sarah: um … just read and review. Three of my teeth hurt and I went to the dentist this morning to have him look at them … had to get a crown put over one and the others are gonna be looked at in early February… I don't feel like talking much …

Something happens to the well, and now Kagome's stuck in the Sengoku Jidai. And then she gets captured by Sesshomaru! How much bad luck can a girl take before she cracks? Or … is it really bad luck? (Kagome/Sesshy)

Prologue

The Broken Well

"I'll be back in a few days," Kagome says, smiling at her friends.

"See that you do!" Inuyasha says, turning his nose up in the air. "I don't want to have to come after you again."

Kagome sticks her tongue out at him childishly. "Nyah!" she says. "I promise I'll be back."

"Bye Kagome," Sango says. "We'll tie Inuyasha up if we have to," she adds jokingly.

"Hey!" Inuyasha yelps.

Kagome smiles at the joke. "Thanks. But, I don't think it'll be all that successful," she says. With that, she lets go of the rim of the well, waiting to be sucked through time … only to hit the bottom of the well. "What's going on!" she cries out in horror, rubbing the arm she had landed on.

"Kagome?" Sango calls down, peeking over the rim at her. "What's going on? Are you alright?"

Kagome's lip quivers and her eyes fill with tears. "I think … I think the well is broken!" she says, pushing the tears down. But, Inuyasha can smell the salt water of her tears, and silently curses the gods and their cruel games.

Sure, he hates her going back to her time when there are still shards to collect … but he won't deny her seeing her family. On the days she comes back from seeing her family … well, her smile could outshine the sun without a problem. And he looks forward to those heart-stopping, soul-melting smiles every time she leaves. Now they will never come again, and he will definitely miss them.

Kagome carefully climbs back out of the well and pulls herself over the lip of the well. She turns saddened eyes to her friends, forcing on a fake smile. "I guess we should go looking for more shards," she says hesitantly. Inuyasha nods solemnly, silent for once the entire day. Kagome's friends notice how fake the smiles are and how dim her eyes are. Kagome will not be the same for a long time … if ever. But they will all try their best to make her happy again.
