Dita felt her heart jump once the sight of her old friends reached her. Everyone stood before her captivated by her appearance.
“D-Dita?” said Barnette as she turned from her controls.
Suddenly a massive crowd formed around her, thousands of questions being shot at her at once. It was frantic and she felt the slight pulls on her clothes clearly showing everyone's interest in her new attire.
“Everyone! Calm down!” she yelled trying to receive everyone's attention. To her surprise she succeeded and was now being greeted with heavy silence.
“I just want to say I'm glad to be home. And if it's alright with everyone I just want to spend a few hours with my children.”
She noticed several nods when a sudden gap was created exposing two small children who looked confused by the sudden commotion. Dita knelt down and smiled grandly.
“Come here, babies.”
Both brother and sister glanced at each other and blinked. Dita couldn't believe how well they looked, one looked just like Hibiki with that messy black brownish hair and her daughter... how it resembled herself.
She soon felt the warm embrace of their small arms over her shoulders.
Hibiki coughed blood as he fell to his knees. Clearly he was over his limit. No matter what training he went through it wouldn't prepare him for something so grand as an army. He loosened his grip on his twin blades and wheezed heavily.
“You're such an idiot, a captain who doesn't even realize his weapon is no where near complete.” said the man as he paced around the physically exhausted and battered Hibiki.
“Shut the hell up. I already know what you mean. I don't need to use their power, their swords, that's all. Besides, how the hell do you know anything about it?” said Hibiki as he tried to regain breath.
“You're quite arrogant aren't you? The legend of Mexaline and Devian are but a religious folktale in my people's culture. I'm merely an advocate seeking reassurance for my people.”
“That doesn't explain why you're after me.”
“Oh? On the contrary it makes it obvious. We want those legendary weapons you posses.”
“Then take them,” he said throwing both blades at the man's feet, “If you want them so much, I have no need for them.”
The cloaked man knelt down and picked up both weapons with a fragile finger. He held them in, both hands and smiled then frowned.
“Just as I thought, they're not complete.” he said dropping them in front of Hibiki.
“Then what the hell do you want from me?”
“Awaken them.”
“How the hell do you think I can do that? I found these years ago while looking for something in a debris field. They have no value.” he said pulling himself to stand.
“Ah but they do. It's not clear what their true properties are but that's what we need you for. You're going to help us.”
“To hell with you.”
“Oh really? I recall your battle with the 'Harvest' and I've seen your home base. Sitting there watching that skirmish was only to see your actions. We know a lot about you and would be a shame if your colonies would meet an unfortunate end because you couldn't cooperate.”
Hibiki felt his stomach drop.
“What do you want me to do?”
“That girl that was with you. She had a very peculiar smell that resembled one of those blades you carried. I think she can help us.”
“Dita? No, she's out of any decision we make.”
“Watch your tongue, you are in no position to make demands. Either you help us or we will decimate every single thing you loved in this world.”
Dita sat quietly as the massive stack of food began to compile in front of her. She watched as Jura, Barnette and Parfet scrambled from the kitchens placing plate after plate of freshly made dishes in front of her.
“Really guys, you don't have to do this.” she said laughing nervously.
“Nonsense! We must, we haven't seen you for years! We have so much to catch up on and this will surely last long enough for several meals.” called Jura as she fumbled with another stack of food.
It wasn't until hours later when everyone had finally talked to their lost comrade that Dita was able to retreat into the ship's gardens. She was glad to be back, she missed everyone no doubt but there was a simple x factor that she adored.
Suddenly she felt something bulging out of her back pocket. She dipped her hand within it and retrieved the Tarot cards she received but a day ago. From whom had sent it was still mystery but it no longer troubled her.
She held the cards in her hands and viewed the small pictures drawn artistically on them.
“The Fool?” she whispered as she pulled the first card between her fingers.
The wisping of doors opening echoed behind her.
Startled, she dropped the cards into a bush and turned to see Hibiki wiping his face with a wet towel. He looked up through the folds of the towel and stopped.
“Hibiki...” she said smiling.
“It's been a while.” he replied taking in a breath.
“It has, I thought of you every day.”
“You weren't alone on that one.”
“I missed you a lot... Mr. Alien.” she chuckled.
They came close, fingers lacing together once they reached each other.
“I... never stopped loving you,” said Hibiki as he bent his head forward, “When I thought you were gone, I didn't know what to do. You know I'm not very good admitting things like that.”
“I know..,” she kissed him on the forehead, “you haven't changed a bit.”
She was taken aback by the tears that started to stream from his eyes.
“Hibiki? What's wrong?”
“I tried so hard to find you...” he said with a trembled voice. He got to his knees while embracing her waist, “I tried SO hard! I searched for you everywhere!”
“I know, Hibiki.” she said running her fingers through his hair, “I know you did, honey.”
“Please tell me you forgive me.” he said trying to control his sobs.
“Hibiki, there's nothing to forgive because you didn't do anything wrong.”
“Yes, I did. I let you get taken, I let you get hurt.”
“Hibiki, listen to me.”
He looked up at her.
“I will always love you.”
