ReBoot!

Hex/Bob/Megabyte! Wtf.

There were very few times that Bob was willing to admit to some small, negligible personal fault. Very few because, of course, Bob was a Guardian, and Guardians were the ideal. Super. Cool hair, cool clothes, cool tools, cool solutions to any and every problem. Guardians were the coolest sprites around, and Bob, due to his numerous admirable qualities was one of them.

But this was one of those times that Bob was willing to admit a fault. It wasn't even his fault, per se, because really, things like this just happened around him. He had very little to do with it.

"Well, Guardian, are you going to get the stats on this game, or are you simply going to stand idly by while the User deletes us?"

"My dear brother, I am sure that Bob was busy with something entirely more important than game stats!"

Stuck in a game with both of the system's resident viruses. Alphanumeric. The setting seemed harmless enough, but the User had never let that be a determining factor in whether or not a game would be easy. Green grass, young sprites running by and laughing. It was certainly more friendly than several dungeon-based games he had played in the past. All he had to do was finish the game, keep Hex and Megabyte out of trouble and deal with them once the game cube left.

Easy as point-and-click.

The first thing Bob was going to do when he finished this game would be to run far, far away. The second thing would be to write a lengthy read-me file for the Academy on the dangers of Crocodile Mile. Regardless of the title of the game, there were no actual crocodiles present. Instead, each participant had to reboot into a ridiculous swimming costume and attempt to out-slide the user along a dangerous length of yellow plastic that stretched across the slippery green grass.

The game stats said nothing about aggressive counter-tactics employed against your own team-mates. Nor did they mention how weirdly competitive Megabyte could be against small sprites who had by Bob's estimate barely reached 01.

"Final Level already! But I've barely started!" Hex jumped from pouting to furious to ...something very dangerous faster than Bob could keep track of.

"Indeed," chimed her brother, "I find the antics of these sprites to be... entertaining." Antics had recently come to include viciously attacking the figures of small children in the moment between when they launched themselves at the yellow slide and the moment before they hit it. Megabyte had accumulated a small pile of injured game sprites and had been keeping tally by scratching marks into the lawn with his toes.

"Dear Bob, I fear I'll be simply destitute without this game! Perhaps-"

"Gotta go, it's my tu-urn! HEX!"

"Yes, Bob?" She smiled sweetly.

"Keep your claws off my swim trunks."

They had won, in the end, but it wasn't something Bob wanted to talk about. Guardians didn't win games by being tackled mid-slide by one virus intent on ...something very dangerous, and another intent on either deletion or triumph over the user or maybe both. Maybe he had slipped on the grass and had been aiming at something else. It was difficult to tell. The only benefit was that their combined weight and force had driven the three far past the user on the final slide.

"That was magnificent! We simply must do this again, Bob!"

"For once, dear sister, I agree completely."
