Kate’s Song
A/N: A song I wrote
for Kate. Enjoy.
This is the story of a
young girl who said
Her life was too long
She was growing old too
fast
She was so weary, she
can’t hold up her head.
Young in her twenties
Things happened too
fast
She lost her childhood
At the age of one and a
half
She can’t remember
what her daddy said
She can’t remember her own voice
Sometimes
Too many broken hearts
They’ve rotted her
brain
She’s at the point
she trusts no one
She’s living in vain
A kiss on the lips is
dangerous
To her
Anyone who tells her
that they love her
They lie
Turning to injustice
Against the law
It heals her heart
It doesn’t make her
feel small
She can hold a gun and be in power
Then pull the trigger
She’s growing too
old.
Way too fast.
She closes her eyes
against the world
It threatens to bear
down on her
It threatens to kill
what’s left…
Of this mess she calls herself.
A new start is coming
her way
She’s packing her
bags
She’s boarding a
plane
With a U.S. Marshal.
Turbulence will be her
unlikely victory
He hits his face
He begins to bleed
Oxygen masks, they’re flying down.
All around.
And her plane plummets
toward the ground…
An island’s ground.
A new start is coming
her way
She’s packing her
bags
She’s boarding a
plane.
This was the story of a
young girl who said
Her life was too long
She was growing old too
fast
She was so weary, she
can’t hold up her head.
