CHAPTER 12
Jaina slowly walked back inside the base from the landing platform as Obi-Wan, Ziana and Zak came running towards her.
“Where are they?” Ziana asked.
“Gone.” Zak replied before Jaina could talk.
“Actually,” Jaina said taking out a small screen.
“I was able to throw a tracking device before they took off. We are going to find them the same way they found us. So as of now they are still in the system. All I have to do is insert this tiny chip into the navi-computer in our transport and the computer will take care of the rest.” Jaina declared proudly.
Finally smiles came out on their faces.
“We’d better leave now then. If I am not mistaken, even tracking devices have limits. They will disappear if they are too far.” Obi-Wan said.
They got back in the ship and took off after the kidnappers. After a few hours Ziana and Zak got bored so they played a game in the main chamber of the ship, while Jaina and Obi-Wan remained in the cockpit.
Jaina’s hands never slipped from the controls as they both just sat there.
“You’re thinking of Anakin. Aren’t you?” Jaina said breaking the silence.
“How did you know?” Obi-Wan asked.
“I can feel your grief and sorrow. And you looked sad. I can’t think of any other reason why the calmness from your face would disappear.” Jaina replied after she shrugged.
Obi-Wan gave up and sighed.
“He was the one who told me that the tracking devices had a limit. And those minutes in the asteroid field reminded me of what a good pilot he was. You are just as good a pilot as him and it reminded me. Now, he’s more machine than man and most . . . no almost all of him is evil.”
Jaina looked at him sadly and decided to change the subject.
“So, according to the computer they are heading for the fourth planet of the Hoth system. I am picking up very little living creatures but massive energy readings.
I am sure that that is their new base. We should be there in a few hours.” She said.
“Then let’s go to the main chamber. There is nothing to do as of now.” Obi-Wan said.
That was the only time that her hands left the controls. Ziana and Zak were arguing over which the best ship was.
“It’s the X-wing! It has the best defense!” Ziana snapped at Zak.
“But the A-wing is faster!” Zak retorted.
Obi-Wan got a tiny seeker droid and said.
“You might as well practice your saber techniques.”
The tiny ball ascended and Jaina ignited her lightsaber with a smile on her face.
Obi-Wan took a seat and monitored her strengths and weaknesses with a lightsaber just as he always did. He also monitored her progress.
Ziana and Zak finally stopped and watched Jaina swiftly block the energy blasts.
There were a lot of times when she was so fast that her lightsaber became a blur. It had been like thirty minutes but Jaina had not shown one sign of weakness.
She had not let her guard down until the ship approached Hoth. They all proceeded to the cockpit. Hoth was near.
