CHAPTER 12

Jaina went to bed.

She was still very confused.

When she was asleep, the image of Evil Emperor Palpatine appeared in her dream.

“You do know that there is still a way to bring Zak from the dead, don’t you? If you want to killthat killer too, I know where too find them. To bring Zak to the dead you need the Dark Side. Thing about it, Padawan.”

Jaina awoke with a start.

What had Master Yoda said?

Stronger, the Dark Side is not. Easier, more seductive, it is.

If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.

He’s wrong.

I am only doing this to bring Zak back from the Netherworld of the Force.

I care about him.

I will come back to the Light Side, the side of the Jedi.

This is something I have to do.

The question is, will I be able to go back?

What if I turn out like Anakin Skywalker?

What if I try killing Obi-Wan?

What am I thinking?

I won’t do this.

I won’t!

Jaina went back to sleep but the Emperor was there again. “Come on, Young Knightrunner. You will become more powerful than any Jedi. You can become the apprentice of Lord Vader.”

Jaina woke up for the second time and sat up.

How do I stop this?

I can’t do this.

I won’t.

My loyalties lie with the Rebellion, with the Jedi Order, with the Light Side of the Force and with Obi-Wan.

Isn’t that what Anakin said before he went to the Dark Side?
