Together

A black gloved hand beckons

I drift among the silent souls.

Tortured in their restful sleep,

A million stories left untold.

I remember how this came to be,

A woman with an ancient tool.

Blood soaking me, soaking him,

Crimson and tears begin to pool.

But I cannot leave my family

Caught in danger and in grief

So I urge my son to read on,

Once more my heart will beat.

A child's anxious voice beckons

I drift away from the silent souls.

My eyes open to a tortured world,

Together, we shall make it whole.
