Josephine watched his fingers move effortlessly over the strings of the guitar, coaxing out lilting, haunting melodies. Her hands itched to brush the long strands of honey-coloured hair out of his eyes. He was humming to himself, a soft, unexpectedly sweet sound.

He looked up and saw her watching him. He winked, his lips forming that devastating smile, letting his fingers drop from the guitar. He sauntered over to her, until he stood so close that she could smell him – he smelt of fragrant oils and spice.

'Eat your heart out, Vianne' was her last thought before he kissed her.
