Chapter 16

“Yea Katie’s riding…” gasped Rachel

“WYLDFYR” all three exclaimed in unison.

Katie jogged Wyldfyr over to her friends, the magma class looked extremely happy to be back at the track.

“Hey Katie, what’s up.” asked Steven as he pointed to Wyldfyr. “Is Star okay?”

“She caught a really bad dragon cold during the night; mom and dad said I could ride either Beau or Wyldfyr. And I knew Wyldfyr was dieing to race again.” explained Katie.

“So Star is going to be aright?” asked Jade in a worried tone.

“Oh yea, by this time tomorrow she’ll be running around.” replied Katie with a smile.

(At the starting gate)

“Welcome racing fans, today we have a new racer joining us on the track today, please welcome Ayden Burn, he’s the latest member of the Dragon Flares.” said the RM as the camera showed a boy on a magma class dragon.

The dragon was a four legged magma class; it was a sleek dark crimson. Its head was large and had fin like bones on the back. All over its body was a black marking that looked like vines spreading all over it. The dragon’s eyes were a dazzling sparkling amber with a hint of crimson around the edges and pupil.

The boy that sat in the dragon’s red saddle was wearing a Chinese stiff collar shirt that was just a littler darker then his dragon, a black trim bordered the top. He also wore a pair of black pants that were tucked into his black boots. A crimson helmet with the same design as his dragon rested on his head.

“Racers get ready!” exclaimed the RM as the beeping began, the gate dropped and the sound of pounding dragon claws echoed through the race track.

Katie looked around and saw Rachel and Raptor next to her, behind her was Steven and Matrix. Rachel had just activated her thruster gear and was now in front of Katie; Katie smirked and activated her own. With Wyldfyr as fast as she was and being assisted by the gear she easily passed the two, after they pasted Rachel and Raptor Katie deactivated the gear.

“Hey Katie nice move, are you coping me?” asked Rachel with a laugh through the Vid-screen

“Ha, thanks and no, what make you think that?” replied Katie with a laugh as well.

Katie was behind a bull-class dragon now, to keep Wyldfyr safe Katie pulled away from the large dragon.

“Hey Wyldfyr I have an idea.” said Katie to the magma class.

“I’m all ears young one.” replied the dragon with a smirk.

“Are you up to another round of the thruster gear?” Katie asked

“Yes I am, why? Is this apart of your plan?” asked Wyldfyr.

“Yea I was thinking we get past the bull class, and get next to the new kid.” explained Katie.

“Sound’s good to me.” smirked Wyldfyr

Katie re-activated the truster gear and the two passed the bull class, Wyldfyr sped through the track easily catching up with Ayden and his dragon. The boy saw Katie and smirked, although Katie couldn’t see it because of his helmet.

Ayden nodded a greeting before he activated his own thruster gear and crossed the finish line. Katie crossed it surprised she didn’t notice the finish line was right in front of her. Cheers echoed through the track as the rest of the racers crossed the finish line.

(At the crew stations)

“Sorry we didn’t win girl.” sighed Katie as she brushed Wyldfyr’s scales.

“It is alright young one, you did your very best, you have you mother’s racing skills.” replied the magma class as she nuzzled Katie’s shoulder gently.

Katie giggled and patted Wyldfyr’s neck.

“Hey that was some really good racing out there.” called a smooth male voice.

Katie and Wyldfyr looked up and saw Ayden and his dragon walking towards them. Katie noticed that Ayden’s top was actually like a trench coat, it reached around his ankles. It had a slit up the back to around his knees.

“Oh, thanks, you too, great job for your first race.” replied Katie with a smile.

Ayden removed his helmet and looked at Wyldfyr with his bright orange eyes with hints of crimson. His sleek black hair with fire red tips, hung in his face, covering his left eye.

“Beautiful dragon you have there.” said Ayden as he motioned towards Wyldfyr.

“Oh, she’s not mine, she’s my mom’s, this is Wyldfyr.” replied Katie

“This is Flare” said Ayden as he motioned to his dragon, who bowed to Katie and Wyldfyr. “And you are.”

Katie giggled “Such a polite dragon, I’m Katie Penn.”

“Oh so you’re the daughter of Artha and Kitt Penn?” asked Ayden

Katie nodded “So you apart of the Dragon Flares, cool my mom almost join that crew before my dad convinced her to join his.”

“Katie we should head home I want check on my little girl.” said Wyldfyr as she nudged Katie’s shoulder.

“Alright we’ll go.” sighed Katie.

“Going home?” asked Ayden

“Yea, have to check up on my dragon, she’s sick.” replied Katie “It was nice talking to you Ayden.”

Wyldfyr magged Katie into her saddle and jogged through the crew station.

(That night)

“He was really sweet girl, so was his dragon.” said Katie as she stroked Starlight’s head.

Starlight lifted her head off of Katie’s lap and looked at the girl.

“Well of course he’s nice, that’s a Dragon Flare for you” sighed Star.

“But just wait till you meet them Star.” whispered Katie as Star placed her head back down and fell asleep.
