Author's Note: I liked HSM, and I got bitten by the little inspiration bug.
Pairing: Mentions of Gabriella/Troy and extremely one-sided Kelsi/Troy.
Verb: Starving.
Starving For The Music.
Jealousy really is a strong word for what she is feeling.
It seems too vicious and conniving; like she is planning on doing something about it.
Which really, she isn't.
Doormat is pretty much what she could be considered.
Good ol', sweet, there-for-you Kelsi.
Never a peep.
Especially not about boys, whom she's pretty much given up on by now.
Practically apologizing for living.
But then Troy had come and helped her pick up papers which wasn't a big deal.
But he'd shaken her hand (her brain, her mind, her thoughts...) and told her she was the playmaker.
And that she should assert herself, because she was the one holding this whole bloody mess together.
And she'd felt a spark of something as they met up to practice the number she was very proud to have written herself.
They got to know each other just a little better, and her heart was soaring.
And then there was Gabriella.
Gabriella, who shook Troy's brain, mind, thoughts...
And who sent his heart soaring with the music of the song.
So Kelsi had taken to feeling guilty.
Because Gabriella was so perfect and there was no reason why Kelsi should feel this burning rage for her every time Troy gave her that look.
You know, that look.
But the burning continued, along with the guilt and that feeling tucked away somewhere that only showed itself when she was talking to Troy.
But she didn't do anything.
She won't.
Stepping on other people's toes is practically a crime that could get her a three to five year sentence in her book.
Conflict isn't really something that she wants.
And inevitable rejection is even worse.
And still, nothing in the department of doing something about it.
Because Kelsi? Taking action?
That could be considered illegal in some states.
So she continues (not) living with these feelings and doubts and cares and thoughts.
And jealousy is still a strong word for it.
Because shy little Kelsi is incapable of an emotion that strong.
She's all about the music.
Starving for the performers to get the right notes and the correct rhythms.
Starving for the scores to shed a little light on her talents.
She's there for the show; stays for the music.
And if her friends are the show, then Troy is the music.
End.
