Prologue

As second year students gather in the main auditorium to watch as new first years are brought into the mix at Duel Academy. Jaden Yuki looked on with great enthusiasm, while his ever present half pint pal Syrus and his koala looking friend Chumly sit next to him. Just sitting behind them in a reclined position was Chazz Princeton, looking irritated having missed his chance to moved up in rank to Ra yellow that morning.

"Can't believe your still steamed that you missed morning tryouts, Chazz," Jaden smiled slightly. The dark haired boy snorted crossing his arms in annoyance. One of the first qualifying duelist stepped into the arena, she had long blue-black hair, dark chocolate brown eyes, and was dressed in a high school uniform.

I need to win this that way I can get away from those perverts! the girl stated activating her duel disk. Her opponent set down Guardian of the Labyrinth in attack mode, 1600/1000. "I summon White Magician Pikeru in atk mode 1200/0, and equip her with Wicked-Breaking Flamberge-Baou 1700/0, of course I have to dsicard a monster. Now Pikeru atk with Lightning sceptor!" the teacher's monets gets dusted and he imediately summons a monster in defense mode as well as putting a card face down.

Teacher: 3900

: 4000

"I activate Swords of Revealing Light!" the girl shouts the face down monster is revealed to be a M-Warrior #1 1000/500," the girl smiled, "I'll attack your monster with Pikeru, I place one card face down and end my turn." Jaden watched the girl with mild interest. As the teacher used Monster Reborn to bring back his M-Warrior to tribute for Pendulum Machine a 1750 attack monster. The girl looked a bit nervous drawing her next card. "I first activate Grave Lure, this card forces you to flip your top card and then shuffle that card into your deck if you draw it goes straight ot the graveyard.

The teacher quietly nodded the top card had been Dark Ruler Ha Des, Jaden made a low whistle, "Saved by the trap card, not bad."

"Now I'll summon Amazoness Paladin in atk mode, 1700/300, her effect let's her increase her attack 100 for every Amazoness and Amazon Archer on my side of the field including herself. Now Paladin Big Sword Slash!" the Pendulum Machine cracked under the pressure. "Pikeru attack his life points directly. I'll end my turn."

Teacher: 2150

: 4000

The teacher activates Ookazi and Hinotama, before setting a monster face down. The dark haired girl winces slightly at the compressed air Drawing a card she smiled at it, "Time to bring out a couple of very trusted friends, I Summon my Toon Gemini Elf to the field."

Teacher: 2150

: 2700

The teacher raised an eyebrow, "You do realize that by summoning that card you can't use it until next turn?"

The dark haired girled shrugged, "Won't need teacher, I'll flip my face down monster to reveal Eria the Water Charmer 500/1500 you may not have a water monster on the field, but I'll attack with Amazoness Paladin first." They both watch a cute blue haired girl appeared blowing a kiss to the teacher. While the Amazoness attacked the face down card to reveal Man-Eater Bug, the teacher picks Toon Gemini Elf. While The dark hair girl attacks with Pikeru and Eria, the combined assault ends the duel.

"Congratulations Miss Akane Tendo you've made it into Duel Academy. Now please wait until the rest of the would be inductee's are finished."

Jaden shrugged the duel wasn't all the spectacular, he waited until the next student took his place the Teacher changed decks, as a pig-tailed boy stepped onto the platform. He looked bored to tears and more than a little nervous. Can't believe I got to go here, but better this than dissappointin' mom, least she bought me all those cards. The boy sighed heavily shuffling his cards a bit before stepping onto his side of the arena.

"Ranma Saotome prepare yourself," the teacher stated summoning Gaints Orc in attack mode 2200/0. Ranma quietly winced drawing his hand and was mildly surprised at what he got, normally Ranma was the single worse card player in history. Yet he found that in Duel Monster's it doesn't really matter if you have crap for card playing sometimes even the worst could play better than the best.

"Okay coach, I play Snatch Steal and take your Giant Orc, to sacrifice him for my Jack's Knight 1900/1000 and I equip him with Lightning blade increasing his attack by 800," Ranma brightly he got a level five monster out and raised it's attack points to a formidable 2500, "I attack you directly."

Teacher: 1500

Ranma: 4000

The teacher groaned in annoyance, drawing a card and smiled, "I summon Elite Goblin Attack Force 2200/0 and equip it with Axe of Despair," Ranma watched as his monster get nail for 800 life points. As his Jack's Knight went to the graveyard.

Teacher: 1500

Ranma: 3200

Ranma drew and frowned slightly a the monster he drew, Mystic Swordsman Lv 4 wouldn't help him this turn instead, "I play Insect Knight in atk mode, 1900/1500 and attack your Goblins," the poor defense positions monster went to the grave still sleeping off their atk rush. "I'll also set one card face down." the instructor simply put a monster face in defense mode and let Ranma take his turn. "I'll play Command Knight in attack mode, with her special she gets 400 attack points for every warrior on my side of the field, and now Insect Knight atk his face down." The card was revealed to be Penguin Soldier, Ranma curse a bit, "I'll activate Skill Drain, sure it takes 1000 of my life points but it negates the effects of all face up monsters including ones you have to flip face up." The teacher growls slightly watching his monst vanish. "now I'll atk you for 1200.

Ranma: 2200

Teacher: 300

Drawing the teacher simply shakes his head slapping down a monster in defense mode. Ranma chuckles slightly, drawing his own card. He put Mystic Swordsman Lv 4 face down on the field then atks with Insect Knight, followed by Command Knight, winning the duel. "Great match coach."

"I'm not a Coach!" the instructor shouted a sweatdrop falling down from Ranma's head. "Yeah okay."

"That wasn't so bad the guy has a Warrior themed deck, pretty cool," Syrus stated with a smile.

Jaden nodded as Alexis sat down, "So how'd the examine go, Lex?"

The blonde haired girl smiled, "Scored high marks, so how are the new students coming along?"

Jaden points to the two that finished, "Strong duelist, one that uses warriors and another that appears to be using nothing put girl cards, pretty nice really," they all fall silent as the next duelist appeared upon the platform, the young man was dressed in a long red coat, a black hat that cast the young man's strange red eyes in shadows, black baggy cargo pants, heavy boots, a black weight training gloves. On his right arm sported an old Kaiba duel disk, his hair was simliar to Syrus's shade of blue. Jaden could tell in the walk of this guy he was an expert duelist. "This should be good," he smiled.

"Uh, what is it?" Chumly asked densely.

"The guy that just stepped onto the platform, bet ya ten grill cheese he winds up in Obelisk," Jaden states.

"Your on," Chumly smiled thinking about all the grilled cheese he was going to get.

"Hiryu Satoshi, you are transferring from KaibaCorp Academy," Dr. Crowler spoke up. "You don't really have to do this."

Hiryu looked up spitting out a toothpick casually, "Wouldn't be fair to the other's Dr. Crowler," the young man said in a monotoned voice.

Crowler sighed heavily, "Very well, begin."

Instructor: 4000

Hiryu: 4000

Hiryu elected to go first drawing his six cards and his face immediately broke out into a smirk, "I put Reflect Bounder in attack mode 1700/1000 and lay one card face down, your turn teach," the teacher quickly summoned a La Jinn 1800/1300 and layed one card face down. "I activate Mystical Space Typhoon," Hiryu replied in his monotoned voice. The face down card shattered like glass, as the teacher watched his Mirror Force leave him. The teacher sliently ended his turn.

Hiryu drew his card laying one monster face down, "I atk your LaJinn with my Reflect Bounder!" his voice only going slightly higher.

"What you're sacrificing your card?" the teacher asked.

With a simple nod Hiryu watched his Reflect Bounder blast La Jinn only to have the blast fly back at him. "Yes, and for good reason, by attacking you with Reflect Bounder I do take one hundred points of damage and loosing my monster, you'll lose 1800 points of damage."

Instructor: 2200

Hiryu: 3900

"Now I'll activate Monster Reborn, and bring Reflect Bounder back from my graveyard, your turn teach," the teacher quietly drew a card, activating Pot of Greed the teacher drew two more cards. Putting one monster face down and ending his turn. "I'll flip my face down monster to reveal Night Assailant, this monster destroys one of my opponents monsters, namely yours," the teacher watched as his defense. "Now I'm going to tribute my Reflect Bounder and my Night Assailant for one of my personal favorite monsters. The Dark Magician!" everyone in the arena gasps at first until they see the Dark Magician Hiryu had was different than Yugi Moto's legendary monster. Hiryu's Dark Magician had the same purple robes, only it was outlined in red instead of prurple, the skin was green, and his hair was blonde. "Now Dark Magician, Dark Magic Attack!" they all watched as the Dark Magician twirled his staffed then a greenish black beam of light hit the teacher. Teacher dropped to all fours gasping for air.

Dr Crowler clapped joyously, "Excellent, superb, welcome to Duel Academy, Hiryu Satoshi," the girly looking teacher face was beaming in pride.

"Man that is some deck, who is that guy?" Jaden asked.

Alexis tapped the tip of her lip, "I heard rumors about him but that's all, he wanted to be transferred out of his previous school because it lacked challenges."

"With a deck like that, I'm not surprised," Chumly replied looking worried. "I mean how many duelist in the world have the Dark Magician in their deck?"

"Only one other that I know," Chazz said now standing watching Hiryu Satoshi except his blue blazer from Dr. Crowler. "And his name happens to be Yugi Moto."

Jaden smile seemed to get brighter, "Can't wait to duel him myself." They all watch as the girl with the long hair and the pig-tailed boy each recieve red blazers. "Cool two new Slifers."

Author's Note: A small idea I been kickin' around let me know what y'all think of it. This is an alternate reality fic, Ranma and Akane haven't met before Duel Academy, but their father still have the infamous arranged marriage. The Hiryu Satoshi character is purely mine, created out of the remnants of yahoo groups RPG i've been doing. The only thing I would need help with in this case is a vialable co duelist to help me write out the dueling bit., thank you.
