She hugged him when she saw he was alive. Like a friend. That's all they were before. So why does she want something else now? And why does he pretend he can give her that?

"Can you kiss me?"

He leans forward.

"Without thinking about my sister?"

He pauses. His lips brush her cheek. Brotherly. Friendly. It's not what she wants. It's not what he wants, either.

He leaves without a word. There's nothing left to say. She doesn't cry until after he's gone.

He walks down the street, alone in the dark. It's a good time to get drunk.
