My Sanctuary Chapter 1

“Cloud? Cloud?” The blonde slowly opened his eyes to see Tifa, Yuffie, Cid and Barret all staring down at him. “Oh Cloud you’re ok!” Tifa shrieked with joy and bent down hugging him. The others just smiled.

“Huh…?” Cloud blinked for a moment gazing around. “Where am I, what happened… Why are you all…?” He stopped when he noticed everyone exchanging worried, sad and serious looks. It was obvious something serious had happened, but the question was what? Then he smelt something horrible and underneath him he felt something like water except thicker. When he gazed down he realized he was sitting in a puddle of blood. “Wha-what in the…”

“An accident…so to speak,” Vincent whispered coming over to him and bending down next to him slowly.

“Just what do you mean by that?” Cloud asked curiously. What kind of accident could it have been? There was blood everywhere.

“We’re not quite sure but…” He paused looking Cloud in the eyes. Cloud felt as though Vincent’s crimson eyes gazed right through him which made him feel uncomfortable. “We found you lying here all by yourself… All around you… there was… well…” Vincent slowly looked around and Cloud sat up and did the same. There were people everywhere… dead. Cloud’s heart almost stopped. Just what was going on here? He practically fainted in shock.

“We thought you were dead too Cloud,” Barret added dully.

“You what?” Cloud looked at everyone noticing all their faces were covered with sad stares.

“Oh Cloud we’re so glad you’re ok!” Yuffie shouted smiling to try to brighten the mood a bit. “I mean if you were dead Tifa would have killed herself, too! After all,” Yuffie paused noticing Tifa giving her a thoughtful stare. “Tifa loves you.”

Before Cloud could reply Tifa screamed extremely loud, “I-I do not love him in that way! I love him as though he were a brother! Yeah of course we used to date, but--” She stopped suddenly and looked at the ground.

“Tifa,” Vincent placed a hand on her shoulder. “You should calm down.” She gazed at his hand, then at him and nodded.

“Hey guys! Guys!” Everyone turned to see Yuffie running over to a man who was trying to get up. “Come help! Quick!” Everyone but Cloud immediately ran over to Yuffie and the man. Cloud had suddenly gotten lost in thought. He was thinking about…

“Cloud, look at you. Sitting there all alone. You don’t even have your sword with you. It’s as though your asking to be killed.” Cloud’s eyes widened as he felt a strong hand on his shoulder. He was ready to speak but a hand was immediately covering his mouth. Something suddenly pulled him up and he felt a swift kick in the gut. He screeched in pain and collapsed to the ground grasping his stomach. Then a long piece of silver hair twinkled down by his face. Then soon following it a pair of bright green eyes stared into his own. “What’s the matter…?” The man grinned with a sparkle of deviousness in his eyes. “Cat got your tongue Cloud?”

“Se-Seph…iroth…” Cloud managed to stammer out before feeling a sword brush against his neck. “What the hell…” He paused. “did you do this?” An evil smile etched its way onto Sephiroth’s face. Cloud’s eyes narrowed and he was about to grab his sword, but then he remembered he didn’t have it with him. The next moment he felt himself being yanked up again. He realized that his back was being pressed against Sephiroth’s chest and there was a sword against his throat.

“Be obedient.” He heard come from the man’s mouth. “Or I’ll kill you…” Cloud could care less about his own life. He was only staying alive for his… “and all your little friends.” That being added Cloud froze in horror. There was no way he could warn them… No way he could protect them… He came to the conclusion that the only way out of this was to do what the older man said.

“Fi-fine…” He whispered. “I’ll do as you wish…but…” At the “but” Sephiroth cocked his head a bit as though asking “but what?”. “I’m only doing this so that they don’t get hurt… I don’t care if you kill me…” A grin appeared on the silver haired angel’s face yet again.

“You promise you’ll do anything I please? Because I‘ve got some plans for you…” Sephiroth’s mouth was right next to Cloud’s right ear and as he spoke it gave Cloud the chills. It was as if death itself was whispering into his ear. Cloud slowly nodded after a moment or two and Sephiroth purred into his ear. “Come now, don’t be so scared… I don’t bite…” He pulled Cloud’s head back so his neck was open. “…that hard.” With those words Sephiroth dragged his tongue up Cloud’s pail neck and bit him right where his pulse was. He let out a loud scream of pain as blood trickled down his throat. The older man licked it up right before it could reach Cloud’s chest and pressed his two of his fingers against the younger one’s lips. “Now, now… We don’t want your little friends to come over here, do we? I might just slip and kill them…” Cloud gazed over at everyone noticing that the man Yuffie had found was telling them some sort of story.

“You son of a…” The fingers pressed against his lips once again. This time though they weren’t as gentle as before. They pressed hard so that he could just barely get his mouth to open.

“You know, that man is dead…” Cloud was once again shocked. “I’m simply using him to keep your friends busy.” Sephiroth rested his chin on Cloud’s right shoulder. “Now I think it’s about time you sleep…” Cloud was confused by that comment then felt a point of pressure in his neck. The next thing he knew, he began to feel sleepier and sleepier. After a few moments, he slowly closed his eyes. “Nighty night… Cloud…” He felt himself slipping to the ground as two arms embraced him. Then… he fainted--right then and there.
