A/N:I don't own the characters, ABC does. I've had this idea
rolling around for a few weeks now and...it's finally gonna see the light
of day. :)..It would be appreciated if Reviews were given 'cause like...
this is my first stab at a GA'S fanfic..while I do have other stories from
other shows under my that's another story...
"Meredith, just tell me what's wrong.I'd like to think that we can still
work together in some form of peace."Derek said, chasing after her. Sighing,
Meredith picked up her pace, clearing her throat. "Mer-Please." Stopping at
the elevator, she pressed the down button. "For the last time,Derek-nothing's
?I just need some time to myself..." Feeling guilty for pressing
the issue, he sighed. "I'm ?I just..." Struggling to find the right
words, he ran his hand through his hair. "I still care about you...and if
something's wrong...you can tell me." Turning her attention to the elevator,
she tried her best to ignore him. "Nobody's perfect...I get -"
"Derek...I'm fine. No strings attached...really. It's been a really busy day
today..not that that's anything ...I'm fine. I promise."Meredith said
with a weak smile. The elevator doors dinged open and she gladly stepped
inside. Thankful she had the time alone, she used the rail for support.
Pressing the button for the third floor, she ran her hand through her hair.
As if finding out the information she had just learned wasn't bad enough, seeing
Derek right afterward raised her stress level. So she headed to the one person
who could knock some sense into her. She had once been in the same situation as
she was. And, while she hoped it would turn out differently, she needed guidance.
The elevator car lurched to a stop on the fifth floor, picking up three people.
Among them was Izzie,a patient and the person that, of all people, she would
wish not to see today. Laughing to herself she thought 'Well-my real choice
would be never'. " .."Addison said, trying her best to ignore her.
"I need you to take this patient back to her room...and keep her calm until I
come back."She said, handing Izzie a clipboard. "Thanks Doctor...Shepard"Izzie
said, eying Meredith. The doors opened on the Fourth floor and allowed Izzie
and the patient off. Pressing the button for the third floor, Addison sighed.
"Looks like it's just you and me."She said, atleast attempting to make
conversation. "Yep."Meredith said, settling against the back of the elevator.
Drumming her fingers against wall, Meredith ran through her thoughts. Suddenly,
the elevator jolting, stopping. "The doors aren't opening."Meredith said, growing
somewhat afraid. Sighing, Addison walked over the the call box. "Don't tell me
the phone's..." Turning around slowly, Addison nodded. "Yep." "You're kiddding."
"No, Meredith...I'm -it looks like we're going to have to find our own way
out."
Running her hand through her hair, Meredith nodded. Staring up at the ceiling,
she bit her lip. "Chances are the wires are still live. There's no way i'd put
myself...or you for that matter through that." "So what are we supposed to do?
Wait?" "Unfortunately... ..."Addison said, sinking to the floor. "Right."
Meredith said, resting against the opposite wall. Closing her eyes, she cleared
her throat. "Help!Somebody...We're trapped!" "Doctor Grey-while screaming might
get you attention, it won't bring help any faster. It'd be better just to calm
down." Growing desperate, Meredith turned towards the wall. "You'd rather be
stuck in here?...Look...We're trapped."She exclaimed, her voice growing louder.
"Just...send to file to ...he'll take care of it."Derek said to George.
" ..."George began to protest. "Shh...O'malley...Do you hear that?"
George stopped for a second to listen. "No I..."He said, walking towards the
elevator. "Meredith?Is that you?"
Smirking at the fact that she had indeed proven Addison wrong, and that someone
had heard her, she turned her attention to who was on the other side of the elevator
door. "George!" "Yeah...It's 's going on?"He asked. "I..we...we're stuck."
Derek walked towards them. "What do you mean we?"He asked. Rolling her eyes, Addison
stood. "I am...now please...find someone to help us out of here."
"Oh God...they're gonna kill each other"George muttered under his breath. "What's
that?"Derek asked. "Huh?Oh..No...Nothing Doctor -Meredith... -
we'll get you outta ...stay calm."
Turning around, pacing, Meredith sighed. "And how's that supposed to happen? We're
stuck in an elevator shaft between floors..." "Just stay calm..we'll have it worked
on right away."Derek said, heading to get help. "What's going on?"Christina asked
George. "Meredith and are stuck in the elevator." "Doctor Shepard..but...
oh."Christina said, coming to grips with what was happening. "Let's just hope Meredith
doesn't get too chlostrophobic in there and let anything slip..I...Meredith..."
"Wait...what are you talking about?"George asked. "Nothing...It's go...
help McDreamy find help."
"How the heck are we supposed to stay calm?" " ...They're getting 're
getting out of here."Addison said, growing impatient herself. "Stay calm?I...I-"
Resolving to stay quiet until they were rescued, Meredith returned to the wall. After
several minutes of silence, she managed to lock eyes with Addison. "What?" Shrugging,
a sad look crossed her face. Knowing that she held one huge piece of information that
could turn her world on its ear, she contemplated telling her. "Is there a problem,Doctor
Grey?"Addison asked. "No...Not at all Doctor Shepard."he quirped back, crossing her arms.
The two stood at opposite ends of the elevator, both demanding silence. Both challenging
the other to speak up first.
"Okay...since you're not gonna say anything..why don't I?
I get the fact that you hate me.I get the fact that you think for some strange reason that
I'm the one who stole your husband from you despite the fact that he chose you over me in
the first place. I get the fact that you wanna rip my guts out sometimes 'Cause you hate
me...I probably deserve some of that. But What I don't deserve is you treating me
differently than any of the other interns. Be Proffesional about it...Just..."Before
she could finish her sentence, she fainted on the floor. "Perfect."Addison muttered.
"Look...I don't know who's helping George...are you still there?" "Yeah...I'm here.
Not much else to do." "Have someone out there waiting... just collapsed."
