I took the Pensieve with me.

Your memories are all I have left. I clutch them to me like a treasured gift, shimmering softly, quietly in the stone basin. They are etched with the pain of loss, not within them, but in their very existence after all that has happened since you placed them there.

They tell a story of all we did together, before the end was brought by my hand. Your memories don't tell that part and I think I am thankful for that.

But there is a terrible beauty in that as well, because late at night sometimes, I make up my own ending, and I think I can see you in the darkness, waiting for me, just out of reach.
