Welcome to 'Mokuba's Crazy Yami' version 2.0!
First off,a history lesson:
A long, long time ago (ie, near the end of 2002), I posted my first semi-serious YGO story and it was called Mokuba's Crazy Yami. Its semi-serious for it was a humor/romance fic with a few OCs with their own Millennium Items of DOOM. Yeah, it was a Mary Sue story but dangit it was rather funny (in my scary sugar-high'd eighth-grader mind) and it had some originality. And attempts at some kind of gender-bendered shonen-ai. /sweatdrops/
Er, anyway, last month while deleting some song fics (which A, were against thenew rules here and B, were old and incredibly horrible to the eyes), I accidentally deletedMCY off of But never fear, for it can be found on some other fanfiction site (last edit was late 2004 to mid 2005 I think...). I thought of reposting it but then I would get reviews that go along the lines of'ARGH! MY EYES! THEY BURN!' XD;
And so, I decided to rewrite it...with a backstory on how those extra Millennium Items came to be in the first place.
Disclaimer: I don't own Yugioh. At all. All I own is the Mary Sues and their Millennium Items. Oh, I also own Maki and Bastet. Who are they? Well, read on and see...
One more thing: Spoilers ahoy! Er, somewhat.
Mokuba’s Crazy Yami (Version 2.0!)

The rather unfunny Prologue
Somewhere in Ancient Egypt
“HE DID WHAT!” A green-eyed woman in a royal gown and headdress shouted to a nervous servant.
“The Pharoah sealed himself into the Puzzle, milady. He said it was the only way to save the kingdom,” he said.
“But why is High Priest Seto becoming Pharoah?”
“Erm, it was just discovered that he was his cousin. And one of the last requests the Pharoah said was that Seto was to be king. Rather odd since Maki is direct heir and therefore he should be –“
“No, Maki is only five years old. He’s too young. He can be Seto’s heir if Seto wants him to,” the soon-to-be ex-queen of Egypt said as she glanced at the sleeping form on the couch, his mane of messy dark hair nearly covering his face.
“I guess, you’re right…”
“I have another question to ask you: Can I see him?”
“Who?”
“My King. My dear loving husband. I want to know. Can I visit him?”
“I guess…I’ll lead you to his spirit temple.” The queen lifted up the sleeping child and held him in her arms as she followed the servant out of the room and to outside.
She gasped. It was mass chaos outside. Half of the city was in rubble. There were people shouting names of loved ones, some were crying over prone bodies of the dead. The queen quickly followed the servant into one of the spirit temples. She instantly recognized it as her husband’s from the slabs of familiar carvings of monsters on the walls. Maki stirred.
“Mama?” he said, “what’s going on?”
“The city was attacked, Maki. But your father took care of it…”
“Then where’s daddy?” he asked, his brilliant purple innocent eyes boring into hers as she set him down to the floor on his feet.
“Up ahead, young Prince,” said the servant. A small crowd was gathering at the upper landing of the steps, at the center of the temple. They were surrounding something. One of them was Mana, who looked as though she aged several years.
“Oh! Lady Anoka! What are you doing here?” she said in a tired, nervous voice. The very mention of the queen’s name made everyone stop talking and look up.
“Our Pharaoh. My Atem. Is he alright?” worry was rising in Anoka’s voice.
“I’m not going to lie to you, Anoka,” said Seto who stepped forward, “Zorc was strong and nearly overwhelmed him. The Pharaoh did all he could…The other priests are gone too…”
“Is he…?”
“He used all in his power to seal Zorc away but he got himself sucked into the Millennium Puzzle.”
“He…what?” Anoka looked confused now.
“Daddy?” said Maki, who had gotten past the crowd, “what’s wrong with Daddy?” The crowd parted to let the queen through.
“Atem?” she said in a small voice. The Pharaoh looked terrible. There was bruises and small cuts all over him. The Millennium Puzzle was glowing faintly on his chest.
“Daddy’s not moving,” said Maki, “is he sleeping?” His mother shook her head, tears flowing from her eyes now.
“Daddy’s gone, Maki. He’s no longer our Pharoah.”
“Then who is?” asked Maki.
“Apparently me,” said Seto but this fell to deaf ears of the queen’s.
“Atem!” cried Anoka as she threw herself onto the late Pharaoh’s chest, missing the puzzle by several inches and some locks of blue hair hidden by the headdress came loose and spilled out onto her face, “why? Why now? Come back, Atem!” Everyone bowed their heads as the Queen of Egypt sobbed for her lost love while Maki watched her with confused innocent eyes.
“Anoka doesn’t seem to be taking it so well,” said Mali, a handmaiden and a friend of the queen’s. Her dirty-blonde and light brown streaked hair was tied back in a ponytail.
“How would you feel if your husband slash ruler got himself sucked into a shiny golden mini pyramid and his sort of long-lost cousin was given the throne at the last minute?” said Nicole, another friend of Anoka’s. She brushed her hand through her dark brown hair on an impulse.
“Sad, obviously,” answered Mali, “But even if I was depressed over a loved one’s demise, I would never miss Seto’s coronation.”
“And they say he’s getting married soon,” added Nicole, “Some noblewoman from Persia is on her way.”
“What happened to that pale girl he liked?”
“They say that Akunadin went insane while the Pharaoh and the other priests were in Kuru Eruna fighting that Bakura fellow. Something along the lines of guilt and the birthplace of the Millennium Items. Anyway, they say that the girl had a powerful spirit within her and he wanted it for himself. The process of getting it out killed her…”
Just then, a knock sounded on the Queen’s servant room door.
“Whose there?” called Nicole.
“Its me, Bastet,” said a girl’s voice. Ah, it was Bastet, the youngest servant of the queen’s. She was there since she was found in the streets as a baby. A cat was next to her, as if watching her. The young princess Anoka took pity on the baby and as she picked the child up, the cat ran off. They never saw it again. Anoka decided to name the child after the cat-like goddess Bastet in her honor.
Nicole opened the door, “What’s up, Bastet?”
“The noblewoman from Persia’s just arrived.”
“She has?”
“Yes, and she’s rather pretty looking…”
“Hmmm, this I got to see,” said Mali.
Sometime later
“Hello, my name is Piper,” said the brown-haired woman in a royal blue gown.
“Interesting name,” grunted Seto.
“My mother was in a daze when they let her name me…” Piper said in a lowered voice, embarrassed. She then noticed Anoka sitting in her chair staring off into space, “Who is she? Another suitor of yours?”
“She’s the ex-queen of Egypt. She doesn’t want to rule with me. Its really been three weeks since the last Pharaoh died…”
Anoka blinked, “Hello there,” she rose from her chair, “Excuse me…” She then left the throne room.
“She’s not taking it well, is she?” asked Piper.
“Well, it has been three weeks…”
A pause.
“Er, anyway. You’re supposedly the new pharaoh, right?”
“Yes.”
“Then –“
“If its about marrying Anoka, I feel that I should leave her be in respect of the old Pharaoh. That and she has a very nasty temper when crossed.”
“Oh…”
“My Pharaoh!” shouted a palace guard who sounded rather out of breath.
“What is it?” asked Seto in surprise.
“Lady Anoka. She’s gone!”
“What do you mean, gone? She was just here several minutes ago!”
“But, she’s gone and our best and fastest horse is missing also. She is probably miles away from the city by now.”
“Is Maki still in his quarters?”
“Surprisingly, yes. He’s sleeping.”
“When he awakes and asks for his mother, tell him she went a spiritual journey. I hear it’s rather therapeutic…”
Anoka gripped tightly on the reins. The horse was rather nervous but kept going. She knew that what she’ll be doing is wrong. But it was the only way…
In a bag attached to the saddle was a book with the Eye of Horus etched in the middle. She found it in the currently dead priest Akunadin’s room. Also in the bag was the Millennium Key. A sheathed sword was in an another bag.
Her destination, a small village in Upper Egypt.
‘May the gods have mercy on me,’ she thought, ‘and on the poor souls that I shall utilize…’
“Psst, hey, wake up!”
“What is it?” asked a guard while trying to hide a yawn.
“Something’s coming towards the city!” said his colleague.
“What does it look like?”
“Someone on a horse.”
“In the middle of the night?”
“Yes. Its getting closer…”
“Oh for the love of…Halt! Who goes there?”
“Do I really need to announce my presence?” said a woman’s voice in a regal manner.
“Wait, that sounds like…” the first guard gasped, “It’s Anoka, the former queen of Egypt! There have been rumors that you went on a spiritual journey or something”
“Is that so?” said Anoka, “then don’t tell anyone you saw me. It might as well be a surprise…and dramatic” She gave out a hollow laugh and motioned to her horse to continue moving forward and the horse trotted past the seemingly paralyzed guards.
“But first,” she muttered to herself as the horse had gotten far away from the city entrance, “I must go to Atem’s spirit temple…”
The Queen’s Servants’ quarters
“Its not the same without Anoka being here,” muttered Mali.
“Its breaking Maki’s heart,” added Bastet.
“But Mana seems so intent on keeping him happy,” said Nicole, “I think he’s starting to see her as an older sister…”
Suddenly, there was banging on the door. Someone shouted behind it, clearly a male. A guard perhaps.
“Come to the Throne Room quickly! She’s back!” A scuffling sound was heard and then nothing. They all figured that he rushed back to the Throne Room.
“She is, huh?” said Mali, “This I got to see.” She, Nicole, Bastet and the other curious servants walked out of the room to the throne way. Along the way, they met up with Mana and Maki.
“Mana says that Mama came back,” Maki explained.
“And we’re going to see if its true,” Bastet replied.
“But if it’s not then –“ Nicole stopped as they reached the throne room.
Anoka was standing before Seto and Piper, her clothes were frayed with small rips at the sleeves and at the bottom of her dress. Her headdress was gone and thus her blue hair (she dyed her hair blue after complaining to Atem over his mass of tri-colored hair one day) was exposed. It was unwashed and in a ponytail. The bag that hung from her shoulder was battered. Anoka looked absolutely exhausted.
“Where have you been?” Seto asked, with a look a surprise on her state of appearance.
“I wish to not speak of it.”
“Was it…” Piper began nervously, “…over Atem?”
Anoka lowered her eyes, “Yes.”
“Anoka,” said Seto, “When you disappeared, we searched the palace for clues. We have found none at first until a servant noted seeing someone enter Akunadin’s room and left several minutes later with something in their arms one night. We looked in there and found that an imprint of a book surrounded by dust.”
Anoka looked up, defiant, “And?”
“We have figured that you stole the book that held secrets to creating the Millennium Items.”
“I have.”
“Anoka, you do realize that it’s a crime to murder someone, right?”
“I didn’t kill anyone,” said Anoka, her voice sounding oddly distant, “I went down to Upper Egypt and summoned forty-nine virginal women to the desert. With the book, I used a spell. An alternate to creating a Millennium Item. Four Items have been created with the essences of love, courage, charity, hope, cleverness, and spontaneity. The women are still alive…but not long. They will die in several months. And yet, there is one more thing I need…”
“What is it, Anoka?” Piper said in a horrified voice, “Is it a sacrifice?”
“No,” said Anoka as she stared ahead at Seto, “The Millennium Puzzle.”
“The Puzzle?” Seto placed a hand on the Millennium Puzzle which hung from his neck.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” she said coldly. It was the first time she referred to him as that.
And it would be the last time also.
“No, Anoka. For all we know, you could be planning some dark mischief that could kill us all! You know that the gods are already deciding your fate without Ma’at’s feather from your horrible deed in Upper Egypt. For the love of Ra, stop it Anoka! As Pharaoh, I command you to stop!”
“But as a Pharaoh, can you stop me from doing this?” She lifted a hand and chanted a spell under her breath. Suddenly, the Puzzle (and the string holding it around Seto’s neck) dematerialized from Seto’s neck and reappeared in Anoka’s hand. Anoka turned and ran out of the palace.
“Stop her!” shouted Seto, as he rose from his seat, “Stop her before its too late!”
Mali and Nicole ran ahead of the mob of guards (Bastet stayed behind. She wouldn’t be able to keep up anyway since she wasn’t a fast runner.), following Anoka. She ran through the city, past startled peasants to her destination. It was Atem’s spirit temple.
She ran in, muttering a spell as she reached the center and an outline of the Eye of Horus appeared beneath her. She reached into the battered bag and grabbed out Akunadin’s book and three of the hour Millennium Items she created. One was a hand ring with the eye of Horus etched on one spot, another was a golden spork, and the last was a small, golden, odd-looking device. The fourth was holding up her hair for it doubled as a hair scrunchy.
Knowing she had to be quick, she opened the book and flipped the pages to the page she needed. As she chanted the complicated spell, the eye of Horus symbol grew brighter and the three Millennium Items and the Puzzle floated around her glowing while the fourth newly created item that was doubling as a hair scrunchy started to glow and slipped out of her hair to be among the other items. From her bag, the Millennium Key emerged and hovered before her.
“Anoka!” Nicole and Mali shouted as they entered the temple and stopped in horror at the scene before them. Piper came in after them and gasped.
They could hear snatches of her spell, “…Hear me, Obelisk. I implore you to assist me in sealing my soul…”
“No! Stop!” Mali ran up the steps to stop her.
“Wait!” Nicole and Piper followed her to prevent her from obtaining serious injury. However, all three reached the top as the guards, Seto, Mana, Bastet, and Maki entered the temple.
“Stop it, please!” Nicole shouted, “Atem wouldn’t want you to do this!”
“She’s right, you know!” added Piper.
Anoka seemed to not to be listening as she finished the final lines of the spell. As she did, the three women stepped onto the eye of Ra and grabbed her arms. A flash of light blinded everyone. And then came a breaking sound and a clang as the Millennium Items fell to the ground. There was then a thud as several bodies hit the floor. When the light cleared and everyone could see, everyone gasped.
“Mama?” said Maki.
The four women were lying on the ground. Next to each female was one of the new Millennium Items; Mali had the Spork, Nicole had the odd device, Piper had the small ring, and Anoka had the scrunchy. All four Items glowed.
The Millennium Puzzle was in many pieces.
“Is Mama going to be okay?” asked Maki.
“Maki…your mother is gone,” said Mana quietly. She grabbed hold of him as he tried to run to her, “wait, the Eye of Horus is still around. You may come to her when it fully fades away…”
“Piper?” whispered Seto. As the Eye faded away he slowly walked to her still form as if in a dream.
“Why, Lady Anoka? Why?” said Bastet as her eyes filled with tears.
“I thought I never would find someone after Kisara,” said Seto sadly, “I never thought Piper would fully fill that void but she did. But…now she’s gone…” He glanced at Maki who was kneeling next to his mother, “but Maki…he lost both of his parents…I guess I’ll take him in as my charge, my heir. He’d be my adopted son, nay, he’ll be like a little brother. I always wanted a little brother…”
Maki looked up at him. And, as if he understood him, he smiled. He hadn’t done that for the past two months.
“Big brother!”
1: For those who have no idea who Kisara is. Lets just say that she's the past life of Blue Eyes White Dragon. And...I have no idea what's going on inthe dub right now (I am only up to episode 212). My DVR hates me and refused to tape the new episodes in...February I think they appeared in...Nuuuuu!
2: I have no idea if Anoka is a real name or not. When I first wrote this, I had some other name and the Spell Checker said to change it to 'Anoka'. So chances are, its not.
3: The names of the 'new' Millennium Items will be revealed soon. Starting next chapter...which will hopefully be on the funny side.
4: If you figured out on who Maki is, you get a virtual cookie!
I'll be updating soon along with my other neglected fics. Laziness and writer's block are a bad combination...
Ciao!
