Fire Bird
Part 1: Arrival
A few stray rain drops begin to fall on to Rose as she sat on the edge of the rocks that led down to the ocean waters below. Her bright shoulder length red hair hovered above her face on the ocean breeze. She blinked backed a few tears from her coal black eyes as she quickly got to her feet. She squeezed the single red rose that she had clutched in her right hand a little harder in remembrance of who she’d lost. The sharp pain shot up her arm as the thorns priced the palm of her hand, where a few drops of red blood came oozing out of her hand. “Miss you Dad, where ever you may be,” She whispered as she lifted the rose to her lips kissing it then tossing it out on to the ocean waters.
A crack of thunder filled the air and the rain begins to pour so harder on Rose. “Great,” Rose mumbled to herself looking down at her now soaked purple tan-top and blue jean shorts. She started hoping back across the rocks to get her car to go home. Just as she jumped over on the last rock a bright light shot down from the sky blinding her to eyes to the point that she had to shut them. When she opened them again she was falling from the sky towards the ocean.
A loud scream erupted from her throat as she hit the icy cold water. She surfaced screaming and scanning for land, that was no where insight. How can this be? A large wave hit from the side knocking her back under cold water. When she got back up to the surface she could see a distance form of a ship. Thank god! Rose started swimming towards it as best she could through the strong current beating her body viscidly. I don’t if I am going to make it. Another wave knocked her back under. She got back the surface and the ship was coming close enough for her see the people aboard it. She lifted her arms as high as she could above the water to make sure that someone on the big iron metal ship would see her, and this time a wave knocked her under that forced the air out of her lungs. Can’t breath. Rose could feel her body sinking far below the water, but had no energy to stop it. I don’t want to die yet. Just then a dark shape of a man started swimming towards her. She reached out her arm to him, but just before he reached her everything went black.
Rose was in a black room. “Am I dead? Rose wondered.
A bright red light filled the room in the shape of a big bird warming her core. “No, you are not dead my sweet fire bird,” The voice of her father called to her from where the light was coming from. “It’s not your time to die. It is your time to rise from the ashes like the fire bird you were born to be.”
“Daddy,” She called out to him reaching her arms out to him, but the light was quickly fading away from her.
“Rise, Rise, and be reborn,” His voice and light faded away.
“Breathe, Breathe damit!” A young man’s voice screamed at her. What? Who’s that? Rose could feel some one was pushing on her chest and someone touching her lips with air being forced into her mouth. Her eyes shot open and she rolled over coughing up the water from her lungs. Taking a deep breath and rolling back on to her back she opened her eyes. He saw the young man who had been yelling at her was leaning over her. He had golden eyes with a red-ish scar around his left eye. He had black hair that was pulled back into a pony tail. A happy grin slid a crossed his milky white skin of his face. “You’re alive.”
Rose wanted to say something, but her throat was to rough and rah from her coughing. “I’ll get the medic Prince Zuko,” Said an old man’s voice from behind Roses head.
“You’re going to fine now,” The Prince said taking her hand. Rose just blinked hard trying to make since of what was happening, but just couldn’t deal and passed out.
