II logged off the internet and shut the computer down. The blog was a great way to express my feelings, but I dont think I will do it anymore.
I need to move on. I need to get ready for dinner with Soda.
I took a quick shower and Put my favorite pair of jeans on and a baby blue tank-top on. Great, I thought. Looking at my watch I saw I just enough time to finish packing my stuff. I was moving tommorow.
Two-Bit cried when I told him I was leaving. Then he went back to watching Mickey Mouse. What he doesnt know is that I need to start a new chapter in my life. The doorbell rang, interrupting my thoughts.
I ran out of my room, stubbing my toe on the empty bed frame on the floor. I ran down the stairs and opened the door.
''Hey Soda.'' I said.
''Hey Kali.'' He said looking at his feet.
''You want to come in for a while or do you want to leave for the Dingo now?''
''Why dont we leave then come back?''
''Sounds good.''
We walked outside and in the driveway I saw the mustang they had fixed for me.
''Soda! It looks great!''
''Well, I dont want to toot my own horn but...''
The paint had been fixed, the seats duct taped, the windshield replaced, and a new transmission put in.
We got in and I drove to the Dingo. We sat down in a booth and a waitress came over to take our orders.
''I'll have a burger, fries, and a strawberry milkshake.'' Soda said.
''Sounds good. I'll have the same.'' I told the waitress. Whose name, according to her nametag, was Flo.
''So, how ya been?'' He asked me.
''Good. You?''
''Fine. Do you want to keep making meager conversation or get down to business?''
'' Okay then. I want to apologize for overreacting. You were right. I should have respected your decision.'' Whew.
''You really think that?''
''Think what?'' I asked. What the hell is he talking about?
''Do you really think I made the right decision?''
The waitress brought our food and Soda took a bite out of his burger.
''Do you think I made the right descion?'' He repeated.
''About what?''
''About not getting married.''
''Do you?'' I asked. I was stalling because I didnt know what to say.
''I asked you first.''
''Well, Soda... I dont know what to say to that. It's kind of on the spot.''
''Kali, it's not that hard. There is no right or wrong answer.'' He said calmly.
I took a thoughtly sip of my milshake.
''Let me put it to you this way. Do you want to go out again? Because I do. I think maybe we could start over.''
There was an uncomfortable silence.
''Kali, just answer me. Do you or do you not want to be my girlfriend?''
I sighed. ''No.''
''What?'' He said. He was obviously surprised.
''No. Not if it means all the crap that came with it before.'' What the heck am I saying?
He smiled. I could tell he was relieved.
''I promise you that it wont be like before. I never want to hurt you.'' He took my hand and smiled that movie star smile of his.
Dont melt Kali, dont melt.
I had to think about this. I mean, I know he cares about me. But is it enough to get over all these freakin emotional hurdles?
But then again, isnt that the fun part?
''Ok, Soda. I think you get a third chance. But dont blow it this time.'' I said in a mock serious tone.
''Yes Mam.'' He smiled again.
God, why is it that I can never say no to this guy?
''Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that I am moving.'' He said.
''Me too. Where?'' I asked.
''Pine Grove Apartments.'' He said.
''Me too.''
''Really? What apartment? I am 2B.''
''3A. So you are a floor above me.''
He took the last bite of his burger and gulped the rest of his milkshake.
''Let's get out of here. I can help you put the boxes in your car.'' He said.
I started to fish for my wallet but he stopped me.
''I got it.''
''You sure?'' I asked.
He layed a tewnty-dollar bill on the table and grabbed my hand and we walked out to my car. I drove to my house and we loaded up my entire backseat with boxes and the bed frame. I had already moved some boxes and the mattress there earlier. I bought a couch at a yard sale along with some dishes and silverware.
After we had finished our task, went in the house and I gave Two-Bit the ''Mickeys' Greatest Moments'' tape I got at the yard sale.
Soda, Two-Bit and I sat in front of the Tv with some chocolate cake.
''You know Two-Bit I feel like you spend too much time watching Mickey. I feel like you relate to him and have some childhood memories attahced to a fictional character. '' Soda said to him with a grin.
''Thank you, Dr.Phil.'' He replied.
We laughed when Two-Bit's pants fell as he was singing ''M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E'' revealing his mickey tightie-whities.
Right now, I am okay.
