Sailor Solaris - Hidden Destiny

Journey's Beginning

The White Moon Kingdom - Silver Millennium Era

The distant moon shone brightly, casting her ever-watchful gaze upon the opal planet Earth. All the planets of the Silver Millennium had co-existed in mutual harmony for thousands of years. However, no more. Rumours of negative forces had reached the attention of the Lunarian Queen.

It was the sacred duty of the Lunarian people to nurture and protect the people of the Earth, aided by the planetary Sailor Warriors and the purifying energies of the Silver Crystal. The White Moon people had carried out the divine will of the Lunar Goddess Serene for as long as they could remember. The Earth and Moon are now at war with one another. No Lunarian was allowed to descend to Earth. To do so would initiate fierce hostilities.

Clouds shifted across the twilight sky, hiding the distant Earth. Rain hissed, falling in an endless stream, soaking everything, everyone in its wet caress. People ran for cover as the clouds steadily released their burden. Except for one solitary being that sat just inside the grand entrance to the Moon Palace, observing the cascades of translucent liquid with an intense curiosity.

A cat, a rather splendid example of the feline persuasion regarded the sleeting precipitation with vivid blue eyes. A large tail, a veritable plume curled around a body endowed with long cream coloured fur. Four black paws, black ears and an ebony point to the tail completed the picture. A small, golden crescent moon gleamed faintly upon the feline’s forehead. Deep green eyes reflected the distant points of the stars within their crystalline depths.

The furry appendage twitched, moving restlessly in the dewy night air. Delicate ears pricked upwards, catching a slightest hint of noise from behind. Footsteps, quick and light, approached. A tall slim figure burst through the vast ancient doors. The elegant creature rose and turned. A young man, dressed in a white suit, came near. A grey cape, rippling gently, stirred by the cool night air. Pale blond hair framed a handsome face. Two crescents, black and gold, glistered above serious azure eyes. The young man seated himself on the cool marble, beside the Lunar Cat.

‘Hello Hecate.’ A deep, vibrant voice spoke.

‘Your Highness.’ The cat executed a courtly bow.

‘I thought I would come and see you before I left.’ The Prince said. ‘I will be leaving within the next few hours.’

‘It’s been decided then.’ Hecate replied quietly, closing her eyes.

‘Yes.’ The Prince sighed. ‘Something is happening within the Silver Alliance. Planets have been destroyed. I, and others from the other Royal families are going to investigate. Something has been invading the frontier worlds.’

‘The Negaverse.’ Hecate replied simply. ‘They are after one thing, the Silver Crystal. If used for good, it can bring miracles. Used by a dark heart, it will bring total annihilation.’

‘Hopefully we can halt their advance.’ The Prince replied. ‘Before they reach the Moon Kingdom. Protect my wife and daughter until I return.’

‘I will do everything in my power to ensure their safety.’ Hecate pressed against the Prince’s leg, purring loudly. ‘My Clan will watch over the Princess as she grows. It will be hard for her, a child of two worlds.’

‘Thank you.’ The relief was evident in his voice. ‘I must leave now. Farewell Hecate.’

The Prince stood up and left through the pristine doors. Hecate lingered, staring at the immense portals for a few moments. Sadness crept into her emerald orbs. The storm halted, leaving a feeling of silence behind.

I wish I could guard the Queen and Princess. The thought flickered through Hecate’s mind. Something is calling across the oceans of Time like a beacon, drawing me toward it. New lights are stirring, waiting to be awakened. What are they?

A shooting star streaked past, exploding in the Moon’s atmosphere. Light danced obliquely, filling the dark skies, an aurora borealis of colour and flame. A bright starburst, fading into nothingness, a fleeting reminder that life burns quick and hot.

Time to go. Hecate thought, eyes brimming over with liquid emotion. A delicate paw brushed the tears away. I may never see my home or family again. Luna and Artemis will be here in my stead. I must fulfil my task.

Hecate ran, moving into the lowest point of the White Moon Citadel. Mist appeared within her field of vision. A pair of timeless, ageless gates materialized out of the gloom. Hecate came to a complete stop. She was now within reach of the Time Gate, a territory untouched since the dawn of the Silver Millennium Kingdom. Unnoticed by the Lunar Cat, a tall sylphlike figure emerged from the ethereal fog, clasping an ornate staff, topped by a garnet orb.

Hecate cautiously approached the ancient Gate, heart hammering loudly in her keen ears. The unknown person stepped forward and knelt before Hecate, reaching out one slender gloved hand. Serene, dark eyes regarded Hecate. 'I know why you are here, Hecate.' A lovely voice said quietly. 'Queen Selene has already told me why you must go through the Time Gate.'

Shining green eyes swept upwards, making contact with emerald orbs. 'Thank you Sailor Pluto.' Hecate sighed. 'Can you open the door for me?'

Sailor Pluto smiled, her maidenly features lit up with an otherworldly beauty. She held the relic aloft and chanted. The orb flashed, energy building within its mysterious depths. Light flared, erupting from the crystal with a brilliant flare. The ground shook, shockwaves spreading outwards, a mimicry of water. The ageless Doors swung open slowly. A path of marble, leading into an endless vortex, dark and threatening. Hecate started to walk forward, but felt something placed around her neck. She looked down, a blue collar inset with moonstones and several small keys.

'A gift from Queen Selene.' Pluto ran a caressing hand through the thick fur. 'And something to help you return. A Time Key, blessed by Chronos.'

Hecate knew she had been gifted with an item beyond compare. Only rarely, were guides through the timestream handed out. She bowed with an impression of deepest respect and honour possible. She turned and threw her small body into the wild sea of the ages, implicit on reaching her destination and the poeple she had to find. The Time Portal closed with a resounding bang, signalling the end of her existence in the Age of Light.

Time to find the ones who will be needed. The Etheric Sailors, not seen since the earliest days of the White Moon Kingdom, when the Goddess was with us! The thought insinuated itself into Hecate's mind. A sense of urgency filtered through, filling her soul deep. She fell further into the abyss of Time, the last unknown domain, never to return to a home that would shatter and collapse.
