I shall only say this once; I do NOT own Fruits Basket or any of its characters, or any of the songs that are in it. I do not own Man! I Feel Like A Woman, Holding Out For A Hero, Trouble, Come To My Window, or any of the other songs that are included in the story. I do own Tetsu, Kaori, and any other OCs and OC places that are in this fic.

It was another seemingly ordinary day at Kawaiia High. The Prince Yuki fan club was as annoying as ever, classes were a little dull, enemies fought, friends laughed and made plans to visit each other over the weekend, it was a normal day at a normal high school. Young Tohru Honda would never have suspected that the day would take a big unexpected turn, in a most unexpected way. It all started with a girl that, had she not spoken up when the teacher called her name when taking attendance, no one would know existed. In fact, today would be the first time anyone had said so much as three words to her.

Everyone's aware that the 'WET FLOOR' sign is a message to stay away from whatever particular area it is placed near or on, but if you aren't able to see it, then the notice doesn't exactly serve its purpose. This is the trouble that befell a certain girl who seemed to be invisible from day one. Tetsu Kiyoshi was a shy girl who no one really noticed or acknowledged, except for her adopted mother, but that's not the pretty picture you'd expect it to be. Finding solace and attention in books, Tetsu was returning from a venture to the school library, books stacked sky high in her arms, obscuring her vision, when she happened to set foot in a puddle of water. Now, Tetsu was not stupid, she achieved straight A's in each one of her classes, but because of the reading materials, there was no possible way that she could've seen the 'WET FLOOR' sign and mopping janitor in front of her.

Tohru Honda walked down the halls, her two best friends in the world, Uo and Hana, by her side, discussing matters such as Hana's electric signal readings. Suddenly, for whatever reason, someone screamed, disrupting the small talk that had been occurring between the three girls. It was loud, and sounded as if it had been longing to escape the lips of whoever had uttered it. The scream seemed to be pent-up, and slightly muffled.

"Huh? What was that?" Hana asked, furrowing her brow. Tohru shrugged concernedly, and walked towards the source of the scream, who not only sounded like they were sobbing, but also were surrounded by a crowd of people.

"Excuse me, pardon me." Tohru said as they battled their way through the human barricade. Finally coming to the front, eyebrows were raised as the whole scene came into view. A girl with a black pixie-cut, the tips of her hair silver, wearing elbow-length gloves, a worn leather jacket, a long skirt, and worn black boots, was curled up on the ground, sobbing quietly into her knees, books scattered around her. Taking a quick glance around the crowd, Tohru noticed that Yuki was coming forward, and was already standing by her side.

"Give her some breathing room." Immediately, the Prince Yuki fan club sprang into action.

"You heard Prince Yuki! Get away! Back! Get back!" The three troublesome girls shoved people back, most of them retreating to their classes. Yuki turned his attention to the problem at hand, looking confusedly at the girl who was now struggling to get up and collect her books.

"Are you okay?" The girl, just now noticing his presence, looked up at Yuki with big, frightened, confused eyes and fled, her books and bag completely forgotten in the hallway. The prince of Kawaiia High just stared after her in shock; he had done nothing wrong, why had this girl run away from him like he was some sort of terrifying beast? He may be skilled at martial arts, but…. Yuki frowned, gathered the girl's things, and headed in the direction she ran off in.

Tetsu ran through the halls, heading for the library, and then, remembering she'd left her books and bag in the hallway, groaned, turned and started running the other direction. She shook her head; she could go back for them later. Right now, she needed a place to get away from everyone around her. The library was out of the question, as she had just been there, and she was bound to be bombarded with questions if she went into the girl's bathroom. Better chance the library than face the Yuki fan club. Turning around once more, she ran in the direction of the library, and straight past the prince of Kawaiia High himself! Quickening her pace, she raced towards the solace of the library before her, filled with books. Darting inside, she wasted no time in finding a secluded corner, only to discover that on the other side of a bookshelf, someone else was searching the library walls for her.

"Hmm…I hope she's okay." A feminine voice whispered.

"I'm positive that I picked up some distressed electric signals coming from in here…" a monotone voice insisted. Holding her breath, Tetsu inched away from the bookshelf, hoping that the girls wouldn't notice her at all. One misstep sent a stepladder flying, and, consequentially, crashing into a reading table, making enough noise to wake the dead, let alone alert people of her presence. Of course, the girls behind the bookshelf rushed around the corner to see what happened, and saw Tetsu standing there, biting her lip, frozen with fear and embarrassment.

"Hey!" A girl with long blonde hair spoke up first. "Are you okay?" Tetsu, started to back away slowly, the girl started towards her, and Tetsu turned and broke into a run. Had it not been for a hand shooting out from the shadows and grabbing her upper arm, she would've probably gotten away. Crying out in pain, Tetsu's eyes widened as she saw a boy step out from in between two bookshelves. "Hey, Orange-Top; what're you doin' here?" The blonde girl asked. The boy, who Tetsu guessed was in either the tenth or eleventh grade, snorted.

"I was just comin' to see if you girls were gonna be okay, y'know." The blonde girl smiled.

"Sure you were." Tetsu tried to pry the boy's hand off of her arm, not only failing, but earning his hand tightening its grip.

"And where the hell do you think you're going?" The orange-haired boy snarled. Tetsu winced, and a girl with long brown hair and a miniskirt ran over to her.

"Are you okay?" She asked, concern on her features. Tetsu bit her lip, but did not respond.

"She asked you a question," the boy snarled, "Speak up." Tetsu sighed.

"Yes…I'm the same as always." She whispered. It was barely audible, and it seemed that everyone had to strain their hearing just to catch the 'yes'. Tetsu had been heard, however, and she was relieved and still a little frightened when she saw the girl with brown hair smile gently.

"Good. I'm Tohru Honda, by the way. The girl over there is Arisa Uotani," the girl with blonde hair waved, "the other girl over there is Saki Hanajima," a girl with long black hair nodded, "and the boy holding your arm is Kyo." At this point, Kyo let go of her arm and stalked off.

"Whatever." He muttered. Arisa shook her head and turned her attention back to Tetsu.

"So, what happened in the hallway?" She asked, confusion plain to see on her face. Tetsu sighed once more.

"I…I slipped. I was carrying some books, and…I guess the pile was too high for me to see where I was going…" She trailed off, hanging her head in embarrassment and a little bit of shame. Tohru patted her back.

"It's okay. What class do you have?"

"Class 1-D." Tetsu whispered. Again, everyone had to strain their hearing to hear her. Tohru smiled once more.

"You're in the same class as we are! Come on; let's go back to class." She said, taking Tetsu's hand and pulling her to class.

"Hmm, I don't get it." Arisa said. "If you're in our class, then why haven't I seen you before?"

"I…keep to myself." Arisa frowned.

"What about when we have group projects and stuff?"

"Then I usually get partnered up with other people who don't have partners already. No one's ever paid me much mind." Arisa still frowned, but nodded anyway.
