Tears of a broken promise

I started crying today

For the first time since you died

There was no real reason

For the tears I shed

My cheeks burned hot and eyes brimmed full

My mood gloomey and lost

When the tears came I bite my lip

Until it bled

Hiding in a corner

Letting it all out

My breath became ragged , I choked twice

But after it all

I felt rather nice

Today I broke our promise

A sworn oath between us two

You made me swear to never shed a tear

That I'd always have you

Never frown or mope

That won't bring you back to me

But when I lost it all today

My words became untrue

The tears all fell

I screamed and tried to shout

Your name was in my head

I can not say why I cried

You left this world so long ago

That empty spot is still with me

I know it'll never fill

But this one thing is true

Today when I broke my word

After my tears had dried

And my skin back to it's normal hue

The weight of the world left my shoulders

Feeling like I could fly

I can not promise

I will not cry again

But finally today,

I've started to let go of you…..
