Weddings are complicated things. I should know, having been through four of them. One day gets so complicated. But, she said if we were getting married, because she believes I somehow talked her into this, it was going to be simple. No more fuss than necessary.

A woman with common sense, unlike my four former wives, who insisted on our weddings being huge affairs – well, as huge as my salary could afford.

This time around, she's intelligent and definitely not spoiled. She's working – and she knows how to live on a city salary. Things just might actually work this time.
