The stars glistened fiercely against the celestial sea.

“Kaede, do you really…?”

It had been a couple of years since two souls met…

“How many times do I have to tell you?”

Young and innocent in the gyrate of fate.

“Just making sure.”

Breaking in a small smile, the usually frigid face leaned in and met a pair of lips parted in an unspoken anticipation of bliss.

“…Kaede…”

“Now don’t ask anymore questions…”

Loving arms coiled tightly around callow bodies as a blossoming affection locked two longing hearts in a warmth laced with the promises of forever—

Ten years sail by.

The stars are now mere specks of dust stirring the quietude of the world.

“Kaede… I thought you really…”

“A decade has past… a lot of things have changed—”

“But you promised!”

Nothing has ever been constant in the gyrate of fate.

“You remember Haruko?” Words are merely forcing their way out in feigned elation. “We’re married and are now blessed with three healthy kids. I have a stable job and—”

“But you…” Crystal gems are drawing evanescent rivers down wanting cheeks.

“…I can’t take risk with you anymore.”

A frigid face breaks in a sad smile, loving arms ache to respond to an overwhelming need he can never satisfy. Eyes sparkle with old sentiments as words of genuine affections give way to a more pressing need for denial.

“But you—”

“Try to understand. We’re in a different world now and…”

Rivulets rush through, bitterness descends upon their hearts as the truth dawns heavily on two souls destined to be apart.

The promise they have made is a mere speck of dust in this world of bigotry.

“I’m sorry, Sakuragi… we’re just not meant to be.”
