The Moon Light

The wolf pack was running in a winter like desert. They ran without complaints.

Well for awhile that is. After they ran about one hundred and two miles, Hige spoke up, “I’m hungry!” He wined. The others sighed, because they had seen it coming. “Okay, we’ll stop; Hige and I will go find shelter and Toboe, you and Tsume go find food.” Kiba said nodding at Toboe.

Toboe nodded back and started to walk to a small forest in the clearing. As he walked to it, he started to hum a song he heard once, but he stopped soon after he started. Because a little white rabbit jumped out of no where.

As this happened Toboe yelped. Toboe heard the sound of laugher, so he turned around. He saw Tsume walking behind him with his hands in his pockets. Toboe smiled and laughed lamely with his hand behind his head. Tsume only smirked, then changing into the gray wolf he is, he jumped at the white rabbit and killed it.

Toboe winced at the little cry the rabbit made. Tsume dropped the dead rabbit from his mouth to the ground. “Come on Kiba and Hige found a small cave not far from here” Tsume said picking up the rabbit again and started to walk away.

Toboe blinked and stood there for a moment, then noticed that Tsume was walking away. He ran up to Tsume and started to walk in step with him. As they walked Toboe took a sneak peek at Tsume, and saw he was looking straight forward. Tsume turned his head and saw Toboe looking at him, he narrowed his eyes.

“What are you looking at runt?” Tsume said sharply. Toboe blushed and looked away. “Uhhh…Nothin Tsume…just thinking of something.” Toboe stammered. Tsume snorted in a Yeah right kind of way, but he kepted walking anyway. Toboe sighed and started walking too.

A little while later Toboe saw himself staring at Tsume once more. Tsume too saw this. And he became annoyed. When Toboe kepted staring at him, he finally snapped. “What the hell are you looking at!” Tsume yelled right into Toboe’s face. Toboe winced at the volume of Tsume’s voice, but blushed red as a tomato

“Well I…Uhhh…you see…” He stopped there thinking to himself what will he say. And Tsume stood there annoyed as hell from him staring. They had stopped by then. Toboe fiddled with his fingers. “Toboe” Tsume warned. Toboe took a deep breath, and thought, No way I’m telling him why I was staring at him Toboe looked at Tsume and saw that Tsume was very impatient right now.

Toboe opened his mouth as though he was going to say something, but instead he turned wolf and took off running. Tsume narrowed his eyes and he growled. His eyes flamed. He glared at Toboe’s running form. He changed into wolf himself and chased at the young running wolf. Toboe ran and ran until he came to the end of the forest. Which was where a big lake that had been frozen over for sometime now. Toboe heard Tsume’s running behind him.

He started to panic at that point. He turned his head left then right and saw either way it had very sharp rocks. He decided to run across the big frozen lake. Tsume saw where Toboe was heading, so he ran faster, but when he got there and he saw the frozen lake. He saw what Toboe had not seen was that the ice on the lake was thin. And would brake under Toboe’s weight. His eyes widened as he saw Toboe run across the lake. “TOBOE! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!” Tsume shouted out angrily. But Toboe didn’t come back, he kepted running.

CRACK

His eyes widened with fear. ‘No, No, No’ he thought over and over again in his mind, but his fear was soon faced as the thin ice under Toboe broke. Toboe gasped loudly and fell in. Tsume, who had seen Toboe go under, screamed out with fear and horror. “TOBOE!” Tsume out of panic ran out to where Toboe had fallen.

Toboe struggled to keep his head above the ice cold water. But after a few moments, his body became numb and he sank under. As he fell to the bottom he began to pass out, but he had one thought, which was, ‘Tsume help me’ after he thought that he passed out.

Tsume was on his knees looking in the water. “Toboe? Toboe? Hold on Toboe.” He yelled as he took a deep breath. And jumped into the freezing cold water. After he jumped in, his eyes started to burn, but he shook it off and continued looking for Toboe. He swam deeper into the cold water, but his lungs needed air. He quickly swam to the surface, took a deep breath and jumped in once more.

He was beginning to lose hope as he swam deeper and deeper, but then he saw something shine from the bottom of the lake. Tsume turned to it and swam toward it. His lungs were about to give when he saw Toboe, he was very pale and his lips where blue. Tsume panic and quickly made a grab for him and swam up to the surface. As he popped up from the water he gasped for air. He looked down at Toboe and saw he wasn’t breathing.

He swam to the edge of were the ice had broken. And lifted him and Toboe to the ice. Tsume looked at Toboe and started to press on his chest doing CPR. “Come on, come on Toboe.” He said while he leaned down to check for a heart beat.

Nothing.

Tsume leaned down and placed his lips on Toboe’s. He began to breathe air into Toboe. He did that about 5 times before leaning down to Toboe’s chest to listen for a heart beat. Still no heart beat. Tsume stared at Toboe heartbroken. He put his arms around Toboe and hugged him to his chest.

Tears coming out of his eyes without him making a sound. “Come on Toboe…don’t leave me…please…” Tsume whispered to himself or so he thought. Toboe started to shake as he began to cough up water. Tsume gasped and lad him down on the ice again. Toboe sat up coughing up water, then lad down again.

He smiled weakly at Tsume. “I’ll never leave you Tsume….I love you” He whispered closing his eyes breath in and out shakily. Tsume smiled, a real small smile, at Toboe. “I love you too kid” He said as he pick up Toboe and started to carry him to the cave that Kiba and Hige found. Toboe cuddled into Tsume’s chest and fell asleep. Tsume sighed quietly.

And he continued to walk in the moon light.
