Pearls and Tattoos – A Scott/Lauren Fic

By Gigi

Disclaimer: I own nothing (DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT) relating to Scott, Lauren, or anybody else concerning the cast of Gilmore Girls.

Chapter 2: Stretch and Skin-ah!

A/N: Well, I’m glad that chapter 1 got a lot of reviews! Let’s see if chapter 2 is as good! Keep in mind it might not be word for word! Thanks to my wonderful beat/best bud/best person in the world! OkGoPrettyMuchRules!

“We’re back and joining us now is Scott Patterson, who plays the central role of Luke Danes on Gilmore Girls. Luke runs the local diner where a fair amount of the local action in the little town of Stars Hollow takes place. Hi Scott, how are ya?” Brooke smiles the cheesiest smile I’ve ever seen. It’s so obvious she’s trying to flirt with him. But that’s kinda hard, seeing as I’m sitting on his lap.

“I’m good Brooke, how are you doing?” Scott shifts a bit to get a little more comfort. “God, you’re light,” he whispers to me under his breath. “I’m afraid if I move the wrong way that you’ll fall and break something!”

“You mean other than my dignity?” I quip just as softly.

“Thanks for joining us,” Brooke says the obligatory statement, flipping her hair. Is it really that long?

“My pleasure,” Scott pastes on a smile. “It will be my pleasure to leave also!” He murmurs to me.

“I wanna know a little about you, I heard that you used to write and compose music and at one time you pitched to play baseball,” the tan (most likely spray on, it’s not like its summer!) brunette leans forward in her chair, her shirt dipping down a bit. Oh, God, wear a bra, woman!

“I did…I played professional baseball for seven years, walked away from it, was paid a great deal of money to stop writing music actually in the state of New York!” Scott laughs.

“Really?” Brooke, Alexis, and I ask in unison, but for me to ask, I had to turn a little on Scott’s lap, which isn’t the easiest thing to do when you’re on television.

The next five minutes went by painfully slowly. It’s not comfortable sitting on a guy’s lap for an extended period of time, I have to tell you. I’m not even completely on his lap! I’m sitting, turned, so my back is to Alexis, who is on the far end of the couch, and my arm is slung around Scott’s neck, resting on his left shoulder. My hand falls right above his tattoo, which, I have to admit, is kinda sexy.

Whoa, did I just think Scott’s tattoo was sexy? What the hell is wrong with me? I don’t think Scott is sexy! Wait, I said his tattoo was sexy, not Scott. So why did I just deny that I think Scott is sexy? Because you do, you idiot! And stop thinking the word sexy, watch that word be the next word out of your mouth!

“CUT!” the director announces. “Okay, Lauren, Alexis, Scott, you need to stay like that for pictures. When they’re done, go to hair and makeup.”

“Hey, Lauren…” Scott mutters through his smile in my ear.

“Yes?” I reply just the same way.

“Is this in the least bit uncomfortable for you?”

“You have no idea how much. No offense,” I add, smiling pretty for the camera.

After the Backstage Special, finally rid of Brooke, I sit in hair and makeup reviewing my lines. I’m doing a pretty short scene right now; the Backstage Special sucked up most of the day’s time. It’s the beginning of the double date with Alex, Jared, and Scott. Reading Luke’s lines, I giggle to myself, loving how he obsesses over Dean’s pants, or shall I say, slacks.

“You okay?” Scott asks after I yawn a third time. His arm is around my waist and mine around his as we wait for the cue to start the scene.

“Yeah, I’m fine, just a long day, nothing a cup of coffee and a Jacuzzi bath won’t cure!” I laugh. At the signal, we start to stroll out from behind the gazebo.

“Is that them?” Scott declares, officially “Luke” now.

“Yeah, that’s Stretch and Skin—ah!” I yelp as I trip up in my feet and careen backwards toward the ground, only to stop just short of hitting it. Opening my eyes—when had I shut them?—I look up to see Scott two inches from my face, relieved he caught me in time.

“I think it’s a bit too early for the leading lady to actually die,” Scott quips, his smile evident in his voice.

“Well, I guess it’s lucky the leading man is there to save me!” I laugh as Scott sets me upright, all the sexual tension gone. Thank God!

“Okay, let’s try that again!” Amy yells, fighting back laughter as she winks at me!

“Is that them?” Scott asks, back in character.

“Yeah, that’s Stretch and Skinny,” I confirm as Jared and Alexis start on their way toward us.

“Oh, man, he's wearing nice slacks!” Scott grumbles, and it takes all I have not to laugh out loud.

“I don’t think so,” I counter, scrambling to remember my next line.

“They’re creased!” he says that like it’s obvious.

“That equals nice?” I’m not really feigning confusion. Seriously, how do creases mean ‘nice slacks’?

“I hate that. It's hard enough getting dressed for a date. When you're gonna double with people, it's like dressing for four.” Well, that’s because it is. But he is right about the difficulty of getting ready for a date, Luke’s right, anyway.

“Well, at least be thankful you're not wearing your penguin outfit. Then you really would have been out of place!” I smirk at Scott.

“This is so not a slacks evening!” God, this scene has totally ruined the words ‘slacks’ for me forever.

“Please stop saying slacks; that word is creepy!” Dan, I’m so with you on that!

“Sorry,” Scott mumbles.

“And don't mention the ‘S’ word to them, okay? Dean is going to be uncomfortable enough as it is. We don't want him to think that we're judging him, or that you're inordinately interested in his pants.” Ahem…BAHAHAHA!

“So that scene was fun!” I declare, walking off the set with Scott and Alexis. Jared has an interview in ten minutes so he has to go back to wardrobe, whereas we are free birds for the rest of the night!

“It was! Oh, shit! Brooke is coming over!” For some reason, Scott puts his arm around my waist, pulling me toward him so I’m basically surgically attached to his hip. I raise my eyebrows at him. “Just act like we’re together. In case you didn’t know, she was flirting with me when you were in wardrobe after I spilled coffee all over you!”

“Okay, okay, just warn me if we have to kiss!” I joke. “Do that thing with your ears, wiggling them and all!” I am having way too much fun out of this.

“Haha, you guys might as well be together in real life! You already flirt enough with each other!” Alexis laughs.

“Don’t start!” I whisper as Brooke approaches us. Pasting on a smile, I greet her. “Hey, Brooke, what’s up?”

“Hey, Lauren, I’m fine, you?” Brooke has the same smile I do. I nod, signaling I’m fine, too. “Hey, Alexis,” bra-less Brooke Burke says to Alex.

“Hi,” Alexis starts but turns around as Milo creeps up behind her. “God, you scared me!” She playfully hits him.

“Well, I wondered if you wanted to grab a bite!” Milo, who played Jess in seasons 2 and 3. He guest starred three or four times last season, too. Sadly, he’s not signed on for any guest appearances this year. Next year, maybe…he’s a fun guy to work with. Seeing Scott with his arm around my waist makes him smile. “So you finally caved in, didn’t you?” he asks Scott.

“What does Milo mean by ‘you finally caved in’?” I inquire, bringing my hand up to Scott’s hand around my waist. Scott blushes. “Aw, you’re so cute when you’re embarrassed!” I exclaim, smiling an evil smile.

“Hey, how about we go on a double date?” Milo proposes. We all burst out laughing. All of us, that is, except for Brooke and Milo. “What’s so funny?”

“Sorry, Milo, it’s just the-the…” Alexis gives up as she subsides into another giggle fit.

“It’s just the irony of that!” Scott laughs, leaning on me for support.

“The episode we are filming right now is about a double date with Lorelai, Luke, Rory, and Dean,” I finish, smiling like an idiot. “And yeah, that sounds good, I’m starving! Scott?” Who cares if Scott and I aren’t actually dating? This could be fun!

“I’m always up for good food!” Scott concedes.

“Great!” Milo declares. “Any ideas of where to eat?”

“How about we go to Grace?” I ask. Grace is my favorite restaurant!

“Sounds good,” Alexis says. “But we should probably get changed first.”

“Yeah, how about we meet outside Starbucks in half an hour?” Scott suggests.

“Okay, bye guys!” Alex waves goodbye and walks back to her trailer with Milo.

Turning back to Brooke, who is standing impatiently, I excuse myself. “Sorry, Brooke, we gotta go! Bye hon!” Out of the corner of my eye, I see Scott wiggle his ears. Taking that as a signal, I give him a peck on the lips and a devilish smile before I leave. I can’t believe I just kissed Scott!

“Nice acting back there!” Scott says as he catches up with me on the way to Starbucks.

“Well, I am an actress!” I quip. “But I should say the same with you!”

Meeting up with Milo and Alexis, we all pile into Milo’s and my car and head to Grace.

A/N: So, are you glad it’s moderately long? 1, 557 words all the way! What do you think of the whole fake relationship landing them in a double date with Milo and Alexis? Ooh! Intrigue! Review, review!
