Pearls and Tattoos – A Scott/Lauren Fic
By Gigi
Disclaimer: I own nothing (DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT) relating to Scott, Lauren, or anybody else concerning the cast of Gilmore Girls. So don’t sue. It ain’t write (teehee, you just luv the grammar and spelling, don’t ya?)
Chapter 3: Deceptive DateA/N: Okay, I just watched the season finale and felt inspired to write. Writing is definitely my therapy; especially since Gilmore Girls is no longer safe! As always, thanks to OkGoPrettyMuchRules, my wonderful beat, beta, best friend, and girl with shoulder to cry on (season finale, so sad)!
“Reservations for four under Ventimiglia,” Milo declares to the waiter as we enter Grace.
“Right this way.” The waiter leads us to a booth in the back of the restaurant, where about ten people with cameras are waiting.
Inclining my head, I whisper out of the corner of my mouth. “What the hell is going on?” I ask Scott, who merely shrugs, as baffled as I. I look at Alex and Milo, who, by the looks of it, are just as Shanghaied as Scott and me. Looking back at the crowd of paparazzi, I notice a familiar brunette. “Brooke?”
“Hey, Lauren!” she says that like we’re friends. Idiot. “What’s up?”
“Um, nothing, what’s all this?” I gesture to the photographers furiously photographing the four of us onto photographs, to state the obvious.
“Oh, I was talking with some of my friends after you guys left, and I mentioned you guys were on a double date and they thought it would be a good cover story!” Damn, she’s good.
“How can this be a good cover story?” Alexis innocently asks. Ah, to be so young and naïve, I feel young again!
“Well, the upcoming episode is about a double date, and here you four are, on a double date with three out of the four people acting as characters on the double date!” Brooke laughs. Evil, evil woman!
“Oh, that’s…uh…ironic,” Milo fake laughs, casting Scott a glance, who hasn’t said a word yet.
It just occurs to me now that we are going to be on the front page of so many tabloids! I mean, I’m not one to broadcast my relationships and Scott isn’t one either! And here we are, arms linked, standing next to Alexis and Milo on a “double date”. Okay, time to put my excellent acting skills to good use.
“Well that’s perfectly alright,” I say, and three heads snap in my direction, bewildered. “We can go somewhere else,” I offer. Neither Scott or Alexis or Milo understand where I’m going with this. I’m good.
“Where do you wanna go?” Alexis asks at the same time as the words, “I thought Grace was your favorite restaurant,” are uttered by Milo.
“Hey, too much of a good thing; besides, I wanna check out this new restaurant, Vignetta’s, that is supposed to have amazing Italian food!” I exclaim.
“Okay!” Alexis agrees.
“I’m game for anything at this point!” Milo declares.
Turning to Scott, I ask, “That okay with you, hon?” Well, if you’re gonna play the part; you might as well follow through.
“Sure…”
“Good! Then let’s go!” I order, leading the way toward the doors.
“You do realize they are going to follow us to Vignetta’s, don’t you?” Scott whispers in my ear.
“Well, duh! That’s the point! Don’t worry, I’ve got a plan.” I have always wanted to say that! Getting into the car,--Scott in mine and Alexis in Milo’s—I tell Milo to follow my lead.
“Okay, so what exactly is your plan?” Scott inquires.
“I’m going to drive around, lose them in traffic, and turn back to Grace!” I am so proud of myself, there are just no words.
“Do Milo and Alexis know this plan?”
“You’re serious? I made this plan up like two seconds ago. Unless Milo has learned Legimency, I really don’t think he’s gonna know,” I declare, smiling at Scott’s confused face. “Read Harry Potter.”

Back at our normal table and having rid ourselves of Brooke and the Capture Crew (like the nickname?), Alexis and Milo are telling Scott and me this hilarious antidote of when they first met.
“I would always trip or drop something when Milo was around me, and once I actually tried so hard not to look stupid in front of him, I fell off the bridge into the water!” Alexis confesses.
“So that was why you were soaking wet? Which episode were we filming anyway?” I ask.
“I think that was with the whole Bid-A-Basket auction,” Scott answers.
“Oh yes, how is William Holden, by the way?” I ask in a serious tone with my face fighting a smile.
“Oh, well, he’s got some new daisies to push up!” Scott jokes. “Ouch!” he exclaims as I elbow him in the ribcage. “Sorry, I didn’t realize I was in an abusive relationship!”
“Thou shalt not speak of dear Sir William in such a way!” I tease, trying to hide the fact that Alexis and Milo’s story hits a little too close to home for comfort. How is it too close to home? My thoughts are interrupted by an abrupt camera flash, followed by many more. “Ah, the Capture Crew found us!” I exclaim as I see Brooke in the back with a slight smirk on her face.
“I think it’s time to call it a night,” Milo says, knowing Alexis is very private about her relationships.
In the parking lot“Hey, Lauren, let me drive,” Scott suggests, but I barely hear him. My concentration is centered on his hand on the small of my back. We’re at the driver’s car door by the time I hear him calling my name. “Lauren!”
“What?” I ask, turning around, and notice just how close we’re standing. My face is like four inches away from his, and my back is up against the car. He apparently notices the tight quarters, but he puts his arm up against the car, bringing our faces closer.
“If there is a photographer spying on us, how about you let me drive?” Scott lowers his voice to a whisper. “Lauren?” I’m jolted out of my gaze at his arm.
“Yeah?” I shoot him my thousand-watt smile, seeing a member of the Capture Crew out of the corner of my eye.
“How about I drive?” Scott, seeing the photographer, too, starts playing with my hair and moving closer, so close that his chest is touching mine (dirty!). My smile widens noticeably.
“Yeah, okay…” We stand like this for what seems an eternity before we start to lean in, inch by inch, until—FLASH!
Scott pulls back just in time for us to see the cameraman run away. “Oh, yeah, that’s mature. Take a picture and run!” Scott exclaims, obviously aggravated, as am I.
“Damn it!” I swear under my breath.
“What?” Scott asks. Oops. He wasn’t supposed to hear that. Quickly, I make up an excuse, dropping my keys.
“Oh! Uh, nothing, I just dropped my keys!” I exclaim, hurriedly bending down to retrieve the keys when my head knocks into Scott’s. “Ouch! Sorry!”
“It’s okay,” Scott get’s up, rubbing his head. “Here, get in on the other side, I’ll drive.”
“Okay…”

“Hey, Lauren, did you see? You made the front page of Us Weekly,” Melissa shows me the incriminating magazine.
“Oh, god!” I exclaim, seeing the cover: the biggest picture being of Scott and me…kissing. “How the hell did they get this picture?”
“Hon, the entire set saw you give Scott a kiss after you shot the beginning of the double date! A photographer took the picture and gave it to Us Weekly.”
“Luke and Lorelai: Fairy Tale or True Story? Oh, this is just perfect,” I sigh. “What’s in the article?”
“Uh-uh! You have to tell me why I didn’t know you two were an item!” Melissa shoots back.
“We aren’t! Brooke was just hitting on Scott a lot, and he wanted us to look like we were together!” I whisper. “It was just supposed to be that one time, but then Milo came up and proposed a double date! I can’t believe she got a picture of us kissing…we only kissed that one time-in front of her, of course! I’m such an idiot!” I smack my head.
“Oh…” Melissa looks, dare I say it, disappointed.
“So tell me what’s in the article!” I plead.
“Read it when you’re in hair and makeup. You’ll need it to keep you energized for the house scene!” Melissa jokes. I get called for hair and makeup before I come back with a snappy response.

“Oh, my God…” I say to myself reading the article.
Double Date – TV Turns into Reality!
The WB’s hit show, “Gilmore Girls”, has surprising news! For years viewers have watched Lorelai and Luke, played by Lauren Graham and Scott Patterson, dance around each other, and this season, finally, they have gotten together and are going strong. Gilmore Girls seems to have seeped into the actors’ lives as Lauren Graham were seen kissing after shooting a scene for “We Got Us A Pippi Virgin” which airs on Tuesday, October 19, 2004.
Other “Gilmore” lovebirds, Alexis Bledel and Milo Ventimiglia, who play Rory Gilmore and Jess Mariano, were seen along with Scott and Lauren at Grace Restaurant on a double date (pictures below). In the parking lot of Grace, Lauren was spotted pressed up against her car door with Scott. No need to say what they did later!
“Oh. My. God!” I exclaim, looking at the picture of us in the parking lot. It seriously does look like we’re making out. You can’t see my face, and his is bent down. Shit!

“Hey, Scott, apparently the world knows about us now!” I say, catching up with Scott.
“About us?” Scott repeats, confused.
“You know, ‘us’ as a couple.”
“How?” Scott asks incredulously. I hand him Us Weekly. He takes one look at the cover and—“What?”
“Yeah, and look at the article. It’s ridiculous! It’s suggesting we are having sex like every other night!”
“Seriously!”
“Well, more like insinuated, but it’s still just as bad. There is a picture of us in the parking lot, and we look like we’re making out!” I exclaim.
“Damn it!” Scott curses as we walk onto the set.
“Aw, it’s okay, hon,” I soothe, rubbing his arm in a girlfriend-y way. He gives me a questioning look and I motion with my eyes to across the set: Brooke.
A/N: Sorry this took a while to write! Finals have arrived. I will try to write! BTW, if I don’t update any three of my stories after the 26th till June 11, it’s because I’m in India, so I’ll still be writing, but I won’t be able to actually post it! Now press the pretty little button and give me a review!
