Epilogue
She kept it but knew she would never wear it again now. Not ever. She couldn’t bear the thought. Instead she kept it hidden from all save Reno whom accepted it as her little keepsake. A fragile memory of the ‘other’ man she once had in her life.
She sat at the piano, a gift she’d received a few weeks back as a wedding present from her friends. The most cherished thing in her room now as she strummed away peacefully. A tune floating into the airy sweetly as she closed her eyes. That was the tune Loz had first introduced to her down in the land of the dead. A tune she’d never forget but rather choose to play every now and then as though in memory of him.
“Whatcha doing?” Echoed that sly voice from the doorway. Reno was standing there looking in on her like some dumbfounded sheep. It was /their/ room now of course but he still had trouble getting that through his head.
“Never heard you play the piano like that yo.” He said as he slipped to wards her, plopping himself down on the bench beside her with one hand raised over the keys. Of course all he could manage to come up with sounded like either ‘Mary Had a Little Lamb’, or ‘Ba Ba Black Sheep.’ Tifa could not tell.
She giggled softly, humored by his attempt as horrible as it was. Her gaze landed on the window for a moment, staring outside long and hard at a bird that perched itself on the nearby cheery tree. Sheltered from the rain and yet it’s green eyes seemed as though they looked in on her. She thought of Loz’s green eyes. So unbearably sad even when he smiled.
‘It’s couldn’t be.’ She thought as she shrugged it off. ‘He’s gone now. Gone forever…’
Pressing her hand lightly against Reno’s she ceased his playing. “If you want you know I could teach you a little. Maybe something other that nursery rhymes? We’ve got time to waste after all.” She suggested as he stared down at the keys. Reno pulled away, standing up with a devilish look on his face.
“Yo I’ve got a better idea. What do you say we spend some of that time making children instead hmm? “
She couldn’t help but laugh at his suggestion, standing up and going over to shut the drapes to give them privacy. “You say that now but when we do have children you’ll regret it.” She teased as she finished closing the drapes and moved to wards her husband. Whom sat on the bed patting the spot next to him with one hand.
Outside the bird fluttered away, soaring off into the rain on it’s powerful wings. Swooping downwards until it perched on the outstretched arm of a figure clad in crimson whom looked upon the feathery creature with a solemn nod.
“Even a heart everyone else swears cannot beat can still break can’t it Loz?” He asked as he raised to bird to be inches from his face. “You and I have one thing in common. Heartbreak strongly makes us alike. Strange how different our fates are though.” For a moment Vincent Valentine just watched as the bird looked at him. The green eyes though still hurt no longer feeling the same sorrow they had before.
He tossed the creature upwards, giving it the right boost so that it fled up to wards the heavens above. Into the rain and clouds as he looked up at it with only a nod.
“It seems you don’t have any tears to shed at last my friend…”
Authors note:Well that's it folks. Hope you liked my story. Let my know what you think of the end despite that I changed it a bit from the real Corpse Bride storyline.
