She does this every time, as soon as the first drop hits the sill she sets down her book and wanders over to the window. Some times she stands there for five minutes sometimes for five hours. It matters how long it lasts.

I hate it.

It's so annoying; I can't study when she's standing only two feet away. Why does my desk have to be right next to the window? She can't go to the library on days like this because of her ridiculous allergies. My candle light flickers and I can see her eyes twitch. That's the only time she ever moves, when there's a rumble of thunder. It doesn't even look like she's breathing. Whoops! I'm staring I hope she didn't notice. I wonder what she's thinking about. Not that I care, believe me I would never care about a person like her. Then again she really isn't a person, people actually talk. She reads. She doesn't even read interesting books, their old ancient boring books. I wonder if she would be interested in reading my poetry books. Then maybe she would get away from the window. But then I looked at her hands; she had long crooked fingers not to mention green. A shudder went down my spine; I don't want her touching my books let alone cradling them up like she does. I don't know how she manages to read them; her knees are up to her pointy chin and her head brought down to her chest. It looks so uncomfortable. And the book is two inches away from her eyes; it's a wonder she can stay like that all night long. Some nights she doesn't even change out of her clothes, she just sets down her book and turns off her light. It's creepy changing when she's sitting in the room, although her eyes don't leave her book I feel like she's watching me. Whoops! Staring again. I got to stop this it's weird. Well not really, every one stares at her. Not because she's nice to look at but because she's so strange. She drags her big black army boots down the hall. Her frocks are either gray or black and their usually too long and baggie. The only good quality she has is her raven black hair. I'm probably the only person in Shiz who thinks so since I'm the only one who's ever seen it down. She hides it in a tight braid every day, the only time she takes it out is when she sleeps then she quickly puts it back up again.

"O come on" My candle went out and the room went dark. I didn't notice there was only one candle lit in the room. I believe there were some matches on the nightsta-

"Excuse me." She didn't even move when I bumped into her. I searched around the nightstand for the matches she doesn't even help me. I should just go and leave her here in the dark but I have a lot of studying to do and I don't want to get wet by going to the library. Found them. I lighted a few candles. She's still standing there; I move my books onto my bed. I wonder what it would be like to not be able to ever touch water. How would you bathe? How does she bathe? She isn't dirty so she must have someway of keeping clean. I would never ask her though. I could never bring myself to start a conversation with her. I bet she has to be really careful, you can't just go anywhere when you're allergic to water. If It just started to rain and there was no shelter you'd be in trouble. It's calming down now, I wonder if she'll leave. Every time it stops raining she goes for a walk. But it's late and dark outside she wouldn't want go out at this time.

And she didn't.

She walked over to her bed, picked up her book and sat down. Then she looked over at me. I was staring again, she noticed.

"Rain."

I didn't need to question why she said it or what she meant I didn't really care. But some how it made sense. It must really be a bother, being allergic to water. She doesn't know what it feels like to dance in the

rain.
