“Teen Titans: Freedom Forever!”
by Moonstar FireLark
Hey everyone! This is my first story ever! Usually I just watch the show but I had to write this! I hope you all enjoy! Plz read and review! All comments are welcome! Okay so let's start the show, heh!
Chapter One—The Discovery
Beastboy sat in his bed, bored out of his skull. He was so bored! He rolled around in his bed, arms crossed and legs crossed, and tried to think of a way that could have some fun. Starfire was in the main room having Robin explain to her the way toasters worked. Cyborg was working on his car in the Titans garage. Raven was in her room not wanting to talk to anyone and reading her latest book.
Beastboy rolled out of bed and decided to go to the mall. He could stop at his favorite place and eat tofu and then buys some comic books to hold him over until his friends were all done with their other stuff.
The mall was filled with people buying stuff alone and in groups of friends. Beastboy walked with his hands in his pockets down one section of the mall, when he noticed a large group of people hanging around a table.
Dude, what's that? he thought. Curious to see what everyone was looking at Beastboy ran for the table. He squeezed through the people and saw two women sitting on the other side of the table, handing out pamphlets and small pins. They were dressed like the American flag and looked very cheerful.
“Hi!” one of the women said to him. “In a few months it will be time to vote for a new president! The Libertarian party is trying to get people together so we can win the election!”
“I've never heard of the libertarian party,” BB told her. “Besides I am of the Green Party, since I like animals so much. And anyway I can't vote since I'm only 14.” He shrugged, his shoulders rising and falling.
“Oh that is okay!” the woman said. “There's more to being a Libertarian than just voting for the president. You can tell other people about the party and views and you can help people change things in the local government. It's a lot of fun and it's for a good cause.”
Beastboy shrugged. “Well I am a hero so I guess I should help with stuff that's for a good cause. I guess I can take one pamphlet.” The woman handed him a pamphlet and a pin and BB went home. The others were still busy so he went to his room and started reading the pamphlet.
“Wow,” he said out loud, surprised,” dude, this actually makes a lot of sense!”
BB kept reading, and he found himself engrossed in the pamphlet. The libertarian party also had a lot of views that were similar to the green party that he supported sometimes. Beast Boy went online after he finished the pamphlet and read all he could about the party. He had never felt as strongly about something like he did right now. He was so fascinated. He kept reading, learning about the party's stances on politics and the environment. He also found pictures of some of the party's candidates.
“Dude, I wish I could vote!” Beastboy said. “I would so vote for this guy!”
Beastboy read all night.
(THE NEXT DAY)
“Uh, okay,” Robin said as Beastboy dumped all of the papers he had printed out the night before into his lap, “what is all of this, Beastboy?”
“It is all about this new party I am getting involved in,” BB told him. “I can't vote yet but I can still help by telling people how cool it is so it can get more support. The democrats and republicans always win and it's so not fair!”
“Uh, okay,” Robin said. He picked up one of the many papers BB had worked hard to print and read it. “It kinda looks interesting.”
Just then Starfire and Cyborg entered the main room. Starfire flew over to Robin and Beastboy. “Friends, good zrobna on this beautiful morning!” she sang out in her usual musical voice. “What are you doing?”
Robin shrugged. “I dunno. BB says he wants to help out the libertarian party.”
“I never get that involved with politics and with the BoE on ice” (Beastboy snickered at his own joke while everyone else in the room groaned) ”I can try something new! Besides, you guys, the libertarian dudes are way cool. They don't believe in taxes or anything!”
“Really?” Cyborg said. “Think of the fortune we could save on the tower if they won an election!”
“Exactly!” BB exclaimed with great enthusiasm. “So do you guys want to join? Once you do we can hang up leaflets and stuff!”
“What are leaflets?” Starfire asked, her large emerald green eyes going bright with innocence.
“They're papers that tell people about the party, Starfire,” Robin informed her in a matter-of-fact tone.
“Oh!” Starfire said. She giggled a slight bit. “Forgive me. I am still learning things since I am an alien.”
“It's okay, Starfire,” Robin told her. He smiled at her and the girl quickly look away from him, her cheeks suddenly blushing.
“So, you guys are going to join?” BB asked happily, jumping up and down.
“I dunno,” Robin said.
“I will!” Cyborg yelled excitedly. “I hate taxes, yo! Just tell me what to do!”
“And I will very much like to 'hang up' the 'leaflets',” Starfire said. “Shall we go now?”
“No, wait, we have to see if Raven wants to first!” Beastboy said. “Hey, where is she anyway?”
“She is probably still in her room,” Cyborg told him. “Afterall she spends most of her time there.”
“Let us go ask her to have fun with us!” Starfire said. “We must help the libertarians!”
The team walked to Raven's room. Raven was on her bed, reading a dark leather book with yellow pages. Raven looked up when she heard them knocking on her door and sighed in anger, making a lamp in her room break and fall to the floor. “Who is it?” she snapped.
“Raven!” came BB's voice through the door. “We are going out to help the libertarians win the next election! You gotta come with us!”
“Yes!” Starfire said, clapping her hands, “it will be tremendous fun!”
Raven floated off her bed and opened the door. “What are libertarians?” she asked him with one eyebrow raising over her deep purple eye.
“They're a political party,” Cyborg told her. “They don't believe in taxing the American people.”
“And they care about the environment,” BB said. “They don't believe in censoring television, books, or the internet.”
“Yeah, no thanks,” Raven said grumpily. “I don't believe in politics OR political parties. So go on without me.”
“Aw, man, why not!” Beastboy said.
Raven stared at him.
“I...just told you,” she said. “I don't like it. On Azarath things are different. We only had one party and even then it wasn't a party—it was Azar and her close counsel, and they made laws thoughtfully only after hours of meditation and consultation with the people.”
“Yeah but that's impossible to do in America,” Beastboy argued reasonably. “There are like 20 million people here.”
“300 million people,” Raven corrected him.
“SEE!”
“Are you sure you do not want to come, friend Raven?” Starfire asked. “We will have so much fun. And Beastboy says it is for a very good cause.”
“NO,” Raven said. “Now if you don't mind I am trying to read my poetry.”
“Fine,” BB said. “We'll go without you.”
“Yeah do that.”
The Titans went out and plastered the whole neighborhood. The sun was shining brightly like a golden ball of molten amber, and birds sang above them.
“I wish Raven would come with us,” Starfire said. “She is always in her room!”
“No she isn't,” Robin said. “She just doesn't like politics is all. Azarath was very peaceful and they didn't have to worry about politics much because there was no war and only a small amount of people that committed crimes or even did things like lying.”
“Sounds boring,” BB said.
After they were done hanging up the leaflets the Titans went out and had pizza. But Raven hung in the back of BB's mind, and he couldn't get her out.
